Chapter 10

I stand there with my door open staring dumbfounded at Cole. Ever since last night at the party I've been looking to avoid him. He stands there looking sexy as ever, but with a cute nervous look. I must look like a complete bitch standing there not letting him in.  I finally come to my senses, "Come in." I tell him quietly wondering why he's here.

Cole walks in and takes a seat at the edge of my bed. He seems to be contemplating something, what I have no idea. He finally looks at me and says the last thing I ever expected him to say, "Will you go to the dance with me next week?"

My jaw drops open and I stare at him with complete surprise. Did he just ask me to go to a dance? With him? He can go with any other girl in school, why is he asking me?

Cole chuckles lightly snapping me out of my shocked faze. "You should close your mouth. You might catch flies."

My mouth snaps closed and I glare at him. "You know for asking me to go somewhere with you, you sure are acting like a cocky jerk." I snap at him flustered and embarrassed by my shocking moment I had.

Cole looks at the ground mumbling, "Sorry, I was meaning to be. I just....Never mind sorry" He gets up to walk out.

Guilt flashes through me, “No sorry, I didn’t mean to snap at you. I’m just... not used to this”

He looks at me in surprise, "You've never been asked out before?"

I flush with embarrassment. Why did he have to put it that bluntly. "No."

I look up to see that smirk planted right back on his face. Great. "So...will you go to the dance with me?" He asks more confidently.

I find myself missing the nervous flustered Cole. "Yes, I guess I'll save you the embarrassment of going alone." I reply like it's the hardest thing I could do for him. On the inside excitement bubbles up.

Cole rolls his eyes, "I could get any girl to go with me to this dance."

I simply smile at him, "Fine then go ask someone else to the dance." I tell him simply. Even though on the inside I feel a stab of disappointment.

He frowns and stutters out, "T-that's not what I meant. I want you to go with me. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I was just..."

This time it was my turn to smirk, "That's what I thought." I saunter over to my bed and lay down. "Goodnight Cole"

He took the hint and shut up then he got his composure back. He plastered a smirk on his face, "Goodnight Kat" He shuts my door softly behind him.

I smile to myself as I lay in bed that night. I, Katherine Ford, am going with Cole Parker to a dance. That night I fall asleep with a smile on my face.

**************

It's the night of the dance. I just got home from school and Tori and Natalie told me they would be over in an hour. What am I gonna do for an hour? I decide to pass time by going and seeing the little ones. Your probably confused as to why they were here when Mr. and Mrs. Parker said they will be at their grandparents while they were gone for business, but the thing is that the grandparents live right down the street.

I head over to their house and knock on the door. Lisa's mother, Anita, answers the door and when she sees me she smiles. "Hello dear, What are you doing here? Don't you have a dance tonight?"

I smile politely at her, "Hello Anita, and yes I do. My friends won't be here for another hour. I was just wondering if I could visit the boys."

Anita's face brightens, " Of course you can honey. I'm glad you came. Chance hasn't stopped talking about you."

I laugh at that because that sounds like Chance. He's grown on me, he really is like a little brother to me. That's how it was for the next hour I spent with the boys and Anita. By the time an hour hit I realized the time flew by. I thanked Anita and said goodbye to the boys.

Once at home Tori and Natalie had just arrived. They saw me and immediately bombarded me. They shoved me up the stairs. That's how the longest four hours of my life started. I was forced to sit still while they put on my make-up and they curled my hair and pinned it to one side. Once they were done they spun me around the face the wall length mirror in my room, I gasp as I did not recognize the girl that stared back at me.

There stood a beautiful young woman. She had the right amount of make-up not too much at a natural color. The mascara and eye liner made her green eyes pop.  Her hair was curled and in waves that were pinned to the right side.  to cover her bare shoulder. I couldn't peel my eyes away. I soon did when there was a hard shove to my side. I wince out of instinct and look at my attacker. Tori.

Tori looks at me strangely for a moment before saying, “Go put on your dress!” I notice that her and Natalie are already dressed and ready. When did they have time to do that? I shake my head and walk into my closet and slip on my dress with a set of matching heels. I walk out of the closet and hears two girly squeals as I am engulfed in a group hug.

The doorbell downstairs rings alerting us that Tori and and Natalie’s dates are here. Tori got asked by a guy named Daniel, who just so happens to be Cody’s best friend. Natalie got asked by this smart, quiet, and cute guy named Kaleb. They were so much alike that I couldn’t stop the ‘awww’ that escaped when she told me about him.

After about ten minutes of us girls talking and getting all of our jitters out we decide it’s time to go to the boys. Cody and the twins had left to go get their dates so Cole was the only one here with Daniel and Kaleb. Tori and Natalie went down first to relieve their dates of Cole’s company.

I waited a little longer as my nerves were on end and also to make Cole wait a little longer. Yes, I am purposely trying to get on his nerves. It’s his fault I’m feeling this way. He probably isn’t the slightest bit affected, like he said he could get any girl to go with him. I finally make my way downstairs careful not to trip.

Once I hit the bottom I look up to see Cole’s mouth dropped open staring wide eyed at me. I smirk and say the first thing that comes to mind, “Close your mouth Cole, you may catch flies.”

He instantly snaps his mouth shut. “Y-you look...beautiful” he stutters out, if I’m not mistaken shyly. Cole, shy? No.

But either way I flush at his compliment. “Your not so bad yourself” I say back hiding my burning cheeks.

Cole’s signature smirk returns and he holds out his arm to me. I loop my arm around his and we walk out to the limo that awaits to take us to the dance. We all climb into the limo and are off to the school. We all make small talk with each other on the drive there.

Once we arrive we all carefully climb out and meet up with Cody, the twins, and their dates. We all get introduced with each other and head towards the school.

This will be my first school dance and I’m happy I’m sharing it with Cole. I’m also glad to be sharing it with the greatest people in my life. We head inside throught the door.

Let the party begin.
