Chapter 20

The trees fly by in a blur as cling to Cole tighter the faster we go. I can feel his chest vibrating with his laughter. Jerk. I keep wondering if he goes faster at times on purpose just to make me squeeze tighter in fear of toppling over.

After the longest ride of my life we stop at our destination. If it can even be called that, we sit in front of a long stretch of woods. "uhm..what are we doing here out in the middle of the woods?" I asked letting the curiosity seep through.

Cole chuckles lightly as he walks on ahead of me. "Your not much for surprises are you?"

His question throws me off slightly and starts to bring back memories I don't want to resurface. I carefully push them away in hope that Cole doesn't catch on to my not so light remark, "I never really did like surprises."

I notice him tense in front of me, guess my subtle remark wasn't so subtle. He simply keeps walking out in front of me every now and then looking back to see if I wasn't left behind or have left on my own free will. Believe me I was contemplating it a few times.

After the nice little stroll uphill, I might add. I start to hear faint music and the rush of water. What's that sound and where is it coming from? I start to feel a little uneasy, does Cole know what he's doing? "Hey Cole, you didn't bring me out here to kill me and hide the evidence did you?" I joke light-heartedly.

Cole laughs in front of me looks back with a smirk, "And what if I did?" Okay, not the response I was expecting. He laughs at my dumbfounded expression, "No kitty, I didn't bring you here to kill you. Please just relax"

Well since he asked so nicely, I let my body ease into relaxation. I started to listen to the running water and the light music, and the light laughter of people. Wait, people? Where is he taking me?

We finally round a corner and I'm given the first look to our destination. I gasp in utter surprise at the beautiful sight in front of me. I admire the beautiful waterfall that gushes down into the black abyss down below. I notice a quaint little outdoor restaurant easily placed on the edge of the waterfall. Some tables are places close to the edge for the more daring people and others are at a distance to simply admire the view.

I look over at Cole and he seems to look like he's accomplished a mission. "Let's go take a seat." Oh, no. I know Cole, he isn't gonna be one for a nice little seating. He leads us right to the waterfalls edge.

Cole bends over and pulls the chair out for me. My eyes widen in shock, I can see Cole as a smartass hot jerk but never did I take him for a gentleman. I gingerly take my seat as Cole walks over and takes a seat across from me. "So what do you think?" he asks me with a genuine smile.

"It's amazing. I never took you for the romantic type Cole" I tease him. I barely notice the tinge of pink that lights up his cheeks in this dark. My smile widens when I realize he's blushing. I'm learning more and more about this Parker boy.
