I looked at my phone confused. Why would someone call me that doesn’t want to show their number?
I decided not to take the call. Better to be safe than sorry. I continued to walk down the street to get to my class. I shoved my phone back into my bag and sipped on my drink.
The walk from the cafe to the university was fairly short if you were to drive, but it did take some time if you wanted to walk. Although, I enjoyed walking more than driving because it meant that I got to interact more with the city and take in everything.
As I was getting closer to the auditorium that my class was in, I heard my phone ring once more. I pulled my phone from my bag after digging around for a bit and saw the same thing as last time.
‘No Caller ID’
Gosh what was up with this, I thought.
I checked my phone to see the time to see if I had enough time to even take the call. 8:58 the top of my phone read. Definitely not enough time to answer whatever this is.
I walked into the room and took a seat near the back. I got ready for class to start and turned my phone off hoping that it would mean that I wouldn’t get any calls from that number.
When the class ended I walked out with the other students who I didn’t really know too well. I checked my phone once I was aways from the university.
10 Missed Calls from ‘No Caller ID’
My eyes went big. I realized that this was more than just a spam call or a wrong number situation.
I found my way to a small cafe and sat down at one of the outside chairs and decided to answer back.
As soon as I clicked on the number to return it, my stomach dropped. Was it the mafia? Was it Luca? I thought.
I regretted calling almost immediately because I was truly scared for whoever this person is.
I waited as the phone rang. My heart pounding at each time there was a break in the ring.
I was relieved after 30 seconds of anticipation and anxiousness for the line to not pick up.
One of the cafe members asked if I wanted anything. I had almost forgotten that I had just randomly sat down. I said ‘yes,’ only because I didn’t want to be rude.
As the worker went back into the shop to retrieve a menu a lot of thoughts flooded throughout my mind.
Could it have been the Mafia?
Was it my mother?
It could have been Luca, right?
What if Luca lied to me about this mafia thing?
What if none of that is even real?
I tried to think of some more optimistic thoughts so I wouldn’t get bogged down by the bad ones.
I checked my phone and saw that Katie had texted me.
*‘Hey, TJ and I were thinking about catching dinner tonight if that’s good with you :)’*
I replied right away.
‘Perfect, what should I wear?’
‘Black and white would be amazing.’ Katie replied.
‘Got it! See ya then.
‘Bye girly!’ She responded.
My hopes started to rise now that I had some plans for today. When the waiter arrived with the menu I ordered my favorite _. It was honestly the perfect drink.
