Captain America: The First Avenger ]

A couple of days before the time-travel mission, you'll see Tony and Steve try to make peace, after their fight in the beginning of the movie. Tony came back to the Avengers Headquarter after 5 years, and he brought something with him. A gift for Steve. Cap's shield.
Steve couldn't believe his own eyes and said: "Tony, I don't know" and Tony replied: "Why? He made it for you."

And this story has two explanations, so listen up.

The first reference is "he", as in "he made it for you". That 'he' was Tonys dad. Howard Stark.
He was one of Steve Rogers mentors, back in the first C.A. movie, when a whole team was building the Captain America figure. Howard was the one, who made his shield, and he gave it to him in person, so he could protect himself through the coming war.

But how did Tony get it, if it belonged to Steve? That is the other reference, and this goes back to Captain America: Civil War.

In this movie Tony found out that Steve knew about his parents death, and it was his best friend who was behind the murder.
This caused a violent war and fight between the two fellow-Avengers, with a lot of broken stuff, including Tony's Iron Man suit and Arc Reactor, when Steve kept hitting him with his shield, right into his chest.
At the end it finally succeeded Steve to break his suit, so the shield was stucked into it. Steve took the shield again and walked away, but didn't get to far, cause Tony was yelling at him:
"That shield doesn't belong to you. You don't deserve it. My father made that shield."
Steve dropped the shield to Tony, and walked away anyways.

This concludes, that the shield is actually a Stark-legacy, which was given by two different generations to Steve Rogers as Captain America.

Discussion: What weapon do you like the most? Caps shield, Thors hammer or Tonys suit?
