True but Unrequited

Seoul.

Shuhua's POV

Here we are. We just landed to Seoul.

Having a private jet was so suffocating for me. Staying alone with my  dad was suffocating, thank God the flight lasted for just two hours.

As soon as we get out of the plane some bodyguards escorted us towards the VIP exit of the airport.

"What the hell? It's not like my dad is an important person, at least not for me." I thought to myself which made me chuckle.

<<Why are laughing?>> My dad suddenly asked me.

<<You wouldn't like the answer.>> I said raising my shoulders.

He sighed as we continued walking.

As soon as we reached our car a guy approached us.

<<President Yeh, Ms. Yeh, welcome to Seoul.>>  He said in Chinese that made me look at him surprised.

<<Mr. Lee nice to finally meet you.>> My dad said in Korean which made me even more surprised.

"Since when does he speak Korean?" I thought.
Probably her fianceè gave him free "tongue" classes.

<<Oh God.>> I reacted disgusted to myself loud enough to make everyone look at me.

<<Sorry, don't mind me.>> I said smiling raising my palm.

<<Please President Yeh, just call me Chansub.>> The guy said, which turned out to be my dad's new secretary and right hand.

<<Then just call me Mr. Yeh.>> My dad said before we got in the car.

It was a long drive, longer than the flight but good thing the secretary entertained the old man at least I didn't have to fake listen to him or something.

I put on my earphones and listened to some music throughout the whole drive, until I fell asleep.

Suddenly I felt the car stop, I looked around finding out that we had arrived already.

It was a huge mansion, maybe even bigger than the one we had back in Taiwan.

It didn't have that typical castle vibe, cause that's what usually comes to my mind when someone says "mansion".

It had a modern vibe, white and gray with a little bit of brownish shades. It was rectangular and full of glasses. I liked it, but the purpose of my dad buying it was the thing I didn't like.

<<Did you buy this house for your new soon to be wife so you could finally move on from mom?>> I said to my dad while looking at the architecture.

<<Go inside and prepare yourself as soon as the maids bring your luggage. We have to meet the investors in two hours.>> He said completely ignoring my provocation.

I already hate this place.

I prepared myself, I decided to wear a long fire red dress, the theme was black and white, so obviously I wear red.

As I was entering the car, my dad was already there, as soon as he saw me I could already feel that he was annoyed.

<<I think I told you what the theme was.>>  He said looking back at his phone.

<<Yeah, but this dress is new and I wasn't able to wear it in Taiwan. Do you want me to change?>> I said smirking.

<<Forget it, we are already late.>> He said signaling the driver to start the car.

The party was held on a rooftop of a five stars hotel, I could tell that the vibe was more than a VIP one.

Everyone was in a black and white theme and when I entered all eyes were on me.

I felt embarrassed. For the first time I regretted pissing my dad off.

<<Guess you have all the guests' attention now.>> My dad said smiling, clearly teasing me.

I looked at him while swearing at him with my eyes.

I took a glass of champagne right away and went towards an empty table.

Everyone was so classy with branded bags, fancy clothes and shoes, accessories that were worth my internal organs or even more.

Not that I can't afford it, but I'm not the type to show off my wealth, I find it annoying and disrespectful towards those who sadly have nothing.

As I was sipping my drink, I heard someone laughing at my back, probably they were talking about me and my theme since I was the "mood changer" of the night.

<<Hey lady in red! You're fire.>> A guy said in chinese and the others laughed.

<<I guess standing out from the crowd is my hobby.>> I replied with a smile before sipping my champagne.

All of a sudden they all stopped laughing and looked embarrassed, they probably thought I was Korean and couldn't understand Chinese.

<<Sorry for that, he tends to do bad jokes sometimes.>> A cute girl replied in Chinese.

<<By the way I'm Yuqi, you can come and stay with us if you don't have anyone to talk to.>> She continued.

It wasn't a bad idea, since I'll be staying here for some months, having friends would make me feel less lonely.

I walked towards their table and sit.

<<Hi, my name is Shuhua.>> I said bowing.

<<Hi Shuhua>> Yuqi said bowing back.

<<These are my friends, Tzuyu, Elkie, Lucas, YangYang and Xiaojun.>> She said introducing all of them one by one.

<<Hi I'm YangYang, sorry for the joke but I didn't mean to offend you.>> He said a little bit embarrassed.

<<Don't worry I didn't take it badly.>> I said waving my hands.

<<See? She didn't even take it seriously, you're the only one overreacting.>> YangYang said to Yuqi who rolled her eyes.

<<So you guys all talk Chinese.>> I said trying to start a conversation.

<<Yes but me and YangYang are the only ones coming from Taiwan.>> Tzuyu said.

<<Oh me too.>> I said enthusiastically.

<<Oh my God, we're gonna be besties.>> She said returning the enthusiasm.

<<Yaa! How can she be your bestie? I was the one to talk to you first.>> Yuqi said pouting.

<<Jesus, here she goes again.>> Elkie said that made everyone laugh.

<<Don't worry, all of you are going to be my besties.>> I said

<<So did you move here for good?>> Lucas asked me.

<<Not really sure, my dad said we're here for the investors, also the main reason is his second marriage, so I really don't know.>> I said before drinking.

<<So I guess you're going to study here for the meanwhile.>> Xiaojun continued.

<<Apparently my dad enrolled me already, I think it's called Seoul National University.>> I said unsure.

<<Wow, we all go there.>> Yuqi said.

<<We are gonna be schoolmates.>> Tzuyu said all happy.

I don't think my time here will be that bad.
