Chapter 10:

After spending the night on the sofa in each other's arms, Mizuki decided that she was ready to resolve things with Kei. She hated it whenever they had a serious disagreement - both of them could be pretty petty or stubborn when it came down to it. She was currently laying on top of him, listening to the steady beating of his heart, as he caressed her back affectionately.

"Mizuki, I'm so sorry..." He mumbled apologetically, "I shouldn't have said what I said about your dad. It was a dumb and horrible thing to say..."

"What you said really hurt me, Kei..." She murmured, causing him to embrace her even tighter.

"I know... It'll never happen again, I promise..." He kissed the top of her head affectionately, "Your father was an amazing and kind man, and I apologize for being so disrespectful to him and to you..."

She tilted her head up and met his sincere gaze. His golden-brown eyes shimmered with authenticity and fondness, compelling her to forgive him. It was so difficult for her to be upset at him.

"Mizuki..."

"Yes?"

"I'll talk to my dad." Kei declared faintly.

She gazed at him quizzically, recalling how their fight began because of how she urged him to talk to his father. Maybe she shouldn't have pushed him so hard seeing as he was obviously still very angry with his father.

"You're right," He continued, disrupting her thoughts, "Even though I'm not very fond of him right now, he's still my dad."

"Why are you so upset with him?" Mizuki asked, touching his cheek tenderly, "I understand that it must be difficult for you because of the divorce but... It seems like you're angry at him for something else."

Kei blinked a few times before sighing tiredly.

"That's... That's because I am." He confessed.

"What happened?" She asked worriedly.

"That night, when I found out about my parents' divorce..." Kei's eyebrows furrowed in frustration, causing Mizuki's curiosity to peak, "He said something to me that was... It was horrible."

She shuffled off her husband so that she was sitting on the sofa, causing Kei to sit up slowly. He grabbed his glasses from the coffee table and put them on. His vision instantly cleared, showcasing his wife's concerned expression.

"What... What did he say?" Mizuki asked anxiously.

Kei leaned down and brushed his lips against hers lightly. When he pulled away, Mizuki understood that this situation with his father was probably why he had been somewhat off in the past few months.

"He said... Well, implied..." He looked away, his breath shaking slightly, "He implied that I would... fall out of love with you... That I would abandon you, just like he abandoned my mom."

She held her breath as she processed his somber explanation. Kei quickly took notice of this and gently cupped her face in his hands, squishing her cheeks.

"That's never going to happen, you know that right?" He stated passionately, "I love you, and I will continue to love you, for the rest of my life, for as long as you'd let me."

Mizuki was surprised at his fierce declaration and after a few seconds, she let out a stifled laugh. She nodded reassuringly, grazing her soft lips against his. As a response, he deepened their kiss desperately - Kei had no idea that he missed her that much. Even though they had been with each other for more than a week now because of the Olympics, it was different when she gave him her unconditional attention.
