Chapter 16:
Month 2 - February
Mizuki was now in Miyagi, and after discussing her volleyball contract with her coaches, she decided that she would be taking about two years off just to spend time with Kei and their baby. Surprisingly, they agreed with her, so they rewrote and extended her contract. They valued and respected her as a volleyball player and they would love to have her back when she was ready. Now that she was home in her and her husband's apartment in Miyagi, she gained a new best friend.
The toilet.
She threw up nearly every single day, and although her doctor warned her that she would be feeling some pregnancy symptoms (like cravings, dizziness, nausea, mood swings, headaches, and bloating), she didn't anticipate feeling so sick and exhausted all the time. Kei, as a response to her condition, tried his best to accommodate and attend to her needs as best as he could. If his wife asked for pepperoni pizza at 3 in the morning, he would drive to the nearest, open pizza place to get her a slice.
Currently, Mizuki was home alone watching a movie about a woman in America who became a successful lawyer based on her knowledge in fashion and beauty. Kei had just arrived home from work when he heard her bawling profusely.
"Princess? You okay?" He asked curiously.
"Baby, you're home!" She sniffled, "I'm watching this movie and it's the best movie I've ever seen!"
"Why are you crying if it's the best movie ever?" Kei inquired teasingly.
"Because!" Mizuki wailed, "The fact that she's a woman who embraces her feminineness while other men try to take her down because they don't think she's capable enough... It's so inspirational!"
Kei took his shoes off, loosened his tie, and joined his wife on the couch. He sat down beside her and gently kissed her cheek.
"That sounds like a good movie." He commented.
"It is!" She nodded furiously, cuddling up beside him, "If we have a baby girl, I'm making sure she watches this movie!"
"I agree. If we have a boy, we should also make him watch this movie." Kei pursed his lips together in deep thought.
"You're right... I love how amazing you are, Kei." She exclaimed, causing him to laugh softly.
"By the way, I got us salad with grilled chicken for dinner." He murmured.
"Salad?" Mizuki frowned, snapping her head up to glare at him, "What are you trying to say?"
"What do you mean?" He blinked in confusion. Did he screw up somehow?
"Are you telling me that I'm gaining weight?" She grimaced, "It's a thing that happens when someone's pregnant, Kei."
"Wha-" Kei shook his head alarmingly, "That's not what I'm saying at all. I just stopped by a restaurant and got us something that I thought you'd like."
Mizuki moved away from him and huffed, "I can't believe you."
"Mizuki...?" Kei mumbled worriedly, reaching out for her hand.
"To think that my own husband, the man that I want to spend the rest of my life with..." She shook her head angrily, "The fact that you're implying that I have to eat less..."
"I-I'm not!" He insisted, "If you don't want salad, we don't have to eat it. I'll get you whatever you'd like."
"Really?" Mizuki's eyes twinkled in delight, her mood instantly shifting, "I don't have to eat it?"
