Chapter 5:

Kei was in hour 2 of his 5-hour drive back to Miyagi. Spending a few days with his wife was absolute bliss but he knew that he had to face the reality of work and school as soon as he was back home. He also had to deal with whatever his brother was so worried about regarding their parents.

He knew that his father was a busy man and that his mother didn't mind it because it was to provide for their family. Like Kei and Mizuki, his parents fell in love when they were in high school and had Akiteru shortly after they got married. Even though Kei wasn't close with his dad as he'd like to be, he knew what love was because of his parents - it meant sacrifice, patience, and loyalty.

Kei stared at the road in front of him when he noticed a nearby ramen shop at the corner of his eye. He hadn't eaten lunch yet and he was feeling particularly peckish so he decided to pull over and grab a quick bite to eat. After he parked his car, he entered a quaint, rustic restaurant that had a few people inside happily eating and socializing. There were run-down wooden chairs and tables that seemed to be quickly deteriorating but Kei didn't mind. The aroma of the food smelled absolutely delicious. It reminded him of whenever Mizuki would cook ramen for the two of them right before spending the night together watching horror movies.

Kei was seated instantly and given a menu. He didn't mind eating alone - in some cases, he preferred it because he didn't have to socialize but something... or rather, someone, was irritating him. Kei noticed a pair of curious brown eyes gawking at him from another table. He sighed deeply, annoyed at the young boy eyeing him.

Without any warning, the kid sauntered over and plopped down on the seat beside him, startling Kei. The boy couldn't have been more than 7 years old.

"Hey, mister!"

Kei looked down at him icily. "What?"

"You're really tall, you know that?" The boy stated assuredly.

"No way..." Kei answered sarcastically.

The boy laughed loudly, irking him even more.

"Aren't you here with your family? Go back and bother them instead." Kei smiled frighteningly.

"My family owns this restaurant!" He grinned.

"Oh."

Kei would have left by now due to this aggravating kid but he was starving at this point. The pleasant spices that he could smell emanating from the kitchen enticed him to stay.

"Where are you from?" The kid inquired.

"None of your business." Kei muttered as he removed his jacket and placed it on his chair.

Unfortunately for him, he forgot that he was wearing the ridiculous pink shirt that Hinata got him from Brazil years ago. Since he abruptly left Miyagi for Mizuki, he didn't have time to pack any of his clothes, and thus, he had to wear whatever clothes (no matter how ugly it was) he had available in their apartment in Tokyo.
