Chapter 37:
Later that night, after both the men's and women's team defeated their opponents, Kei and Mizuki were invited to a party thrown by Rina and Kageyama at their vacation house in the heart of Paris. Although it was only the first day of the Olympics, they wanted to celebrate their victories and also catch up with their long-time friends and teammates. They couldn't party too late though as they all had another match the following day.
"Who's your favorite uncle, Hana?" Mizuki asked, watching her daughter's reactions to the different people around her.
There were a variety of choices - Miya Atsumu, Hinata Shoyo, Bokuto Koutaro, Akaashi Keiji, Kageyama Tobio, Kuroo Tetsurou, Ushijima Wakatoshi, Sakusa Kiyoomi, Suna Rintarou, Iwaizumi Hajime, Yaku Morisuke, Hoshiumi Kourai, Ojiro Aran, Komori Motoya, and Hyakuzawa Yudai - and some were more likely to be chosen by Hana because she recognized them.
"You like me the most, right, Hana-chan?" Hinata beamed, gently squeezing her cheek.
"No cheating!" Kageyama grimaced.
"How is that cheating?!" Hinata exclaimed.
"There's obviously one clear answer." Atsumu smirked confidently.
"Not you." Suna commented.
"I heard that you made her cry before..." Aran chimed in.
"Who told you that?!" Atsumu snarled.
"Osamu." He shrugged.
Mizuki couldn't help but laugh at everyone arguing around her. She gazed up at Kei who had his arms crossed exasperatedly as he listened to Hinata and Kageyama argue about who Hana would pick. He wished Yamaguchi went to Paris with them but unfortunately, because of work, he wasn't able to attend the Olympics.
"Shh! You're all speaking over each other so how's Hana supposed to choose?!" Yaku groaned.
"He's right!" Kuroo nodded.
"Okay, okay..."
"So, my moonflower..." Mizuki smiled affectionately, "Who's your favorite uncle?"
Hana tilted her head to the side as if in deep thought. Before she could answer, the front door slammed open, revealing another contender.
"Well, well, well..." The tall man stepped forward with a smirk plastered on his face, "If it isn't my old chums..."
"Oikawa-san!" Mizuki murmured in awe.
"You're late, Shitty-kawa." Iwaizumi exclaimed, strolling over to his best friend.
"Iwa-chan! Miss me?" Oikawa grinned, throwing his arms around Iwaizumi.
"Nah." He replied, only to hug him back tightly.
Everyone on the men's Japan team eyed him curiously - although he belonged to the Argentina team, he had many friends and rivals that respected him including Hinata and Kageyama.
"Oikawa Tooru..." Atsumu whistled, causing Mizuki to stare at him quizzically, "Haven't seen him since the last Olympics..."
Oikawa's gaze darted around the party and gasped sharply when he saw Mizuki and Hana.
"Mizuki-chan!" He jogged over to them and said, "It's been way too long since we last talked! Is this Hana?"
"Yes!" She laughed, "The last time you saw her, I think she was a month old... Now she's almost three..."
"Wow!" Oikawa leaned forward and smiled, "Hi, Hana-chan! Remember me?"
Hana stared at him in wonder and reached out to touch his hair. She began pulling, causing Mizuki to freak out.
