Taehyung's POV
Everyone was having a blast.
Hamming up a care free rendition of their party song Dionysus.
Taehyung was having a hard time staying seated. Torn. Wanting to join Jimin and Hosek who were having a grand time dancing it up. But there was Hannah, sitting so close but yet so far. She was grinning from ear to ear and he didn't wanna look away. He was staring so he shifted his eyes to his drink and took another sip of sparkling cider.
The energy level of the music did eventually go down.
He was pretty sure he recognized the current on as the melody for a song Jungkook was collaborating on with an American. Jimin's eyes were glued on him as he played.Yoongi had his head in Hoseok's lap and he had to look closely, but there was a good chance he was actually asleep. Seokjin had his head on Namjoon's shoulder.
That was about as intimate as any of them were able to be in public. Something that could be written off as brotherly affection. Here, in private he didn't miss Namjoon's hand around Seokjin's stroking his thumb up and down the other's in time with the music. Hoseok running his fingers through Yoongi's hair.
Maybe it was the mood of the pieces, one about young love and it's anxieties, but he found himself moving his hand on the bench, tentatively touching Hannah's hand with his pinky. Something that could have been waved off as an accident, but in response she wrapped an equally tentative pinky finger around his. An electric feeling surged up from where she touched him, his heart suddenly pounding hard against his chest.
After a few more guitar and vocal solos, courtesy of the golden maknae Jungkook called a break for s'mores. They were his idea to begin with. Taehyung wished he didn't have to break their small connection as Hannah picked up her instrument.
He wasn't sure he recognized the song. It reminded him of something the violinist Lindsey Stirling would play.
While listening Taehyung fixed them both a s'more. One of the marshmallows tragically ended up being lost to the campfire. Also he had his first bite of s'more he didn't think he'd ever get the marshmallow residue off his fingers. He hadn't had a s'more before, and after the first bite he wasn't sure he'd want another. It was frankly sickeningly sweet. So the rest of his friends loved them.
Done with music for a while the group sat, ate, drank, and laughed.
They were back to holding hands.
At the moment Jimin and Hoseok were telling some tall tales, like the time a fan threw a bra on stage that Hoseok almost slipped on mid choreo. Or the water bottle, which was full according to Jimin, that Taehyung had chucked at him during a lull between songs. It was mostly empty but had hit him in the shoulder. The fans had gone crazy for it.
She was laughing so hard at one point that he unclasped their hands to put an arm out to make sure she wouldn't fall off the bench. He thought he heard her giggle a bit too as she repositioned to sit closer to him. He let his tentative hand on her lower back wrap further around her side.
Holding her like this Taehyung tried to pay attention to his friend's conversation. But he was distracted by every shift Hannah made as she engaged in some light-hearted debate with his friends. They were arguing about the best Japanese crazy candy flavors or something. He had missed the beginning of the story. She had apparently been to Tokyo with an older sister as a highschool graduation trip. Neither of them had known Japanese so the story revolved around getting incredibly lost.
Taehyung wanted to hear more about her. What had her sister's name been again? Jungkook had taken over, sharing his own story about Tokyo from his trip with Jimin. Taehyung had heard this one before so he found himself zoning out again.
