“Mother!” I screamed with pleasure.

“Dionne! Wh-where are we?” my mother replied in a confused voice.

“Mum, it’s too hard to explain. Please, just lie down a wait here for a bit. I need to go and do something.” I said, slightly relieved and slightly determined.

I helped my mother into the large, comfortable bed in the corner of the room and then looked around for a clue to where the next member of my family was.

I looked around the room for clues wherever I could. Just then, I came across a beautifully crafted jewelry box laying on the dressing table. I opened it up and music started playing. The music was soothing and comforting, like something I’d never heard before. After a few seconds, words began to play along with the music. “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that's why we call it the present.”

“Everything I know, I’ve learnt it by watching the mistakes of others. The mistakes of others  I watch on my own wall.”

Alright. I thought. That was weirder than the first one.

What did it mean? All of it? I questioned myself as the song played over again and again ringing in my ears until my head started to ache.

“Watching the mistakes of others on my very own wall.” It must mean watching someone while they embarrass themselves. Who had I done that to?

“On my very own wall.” That must mean...on a screen?

A film!

Where do you watch films, on a television, in a cinema!

I checked back on my mother, smiled and left the room in a hurry. I was going to find my family.

                                                                                      ***

The lady walked up and down the hallway for several minutes, just thinking to herself.

This girl is intelligent. She thought. What if she does find her family before midnight tonight?

She hurried and rushed into a large room, hidden at the back of the house, and shut the door quickly behind her.

She then walked over to a desk in the corner of the room and stood over it, smiling happily.

On the desk laid a large map of the house. She could see everything on this one map. Even where Dionne was.

She saw that Dionne was heading for the cinema and smiled. Then, she pulled out two dice from the drawer of her desk and rolled them over the map. They landed on the map, above the cinema and made a loud clicking noise.

                                                                                       ***

I ran quickly down the stairs of the house down to the first floor. Then, I turned and began running down the hallway as fast as I could to try and find the cinema. Just then, I heard loud crashing footsteps coming from behind me. I turned and saw a tall lady with bright red hair standing behind me.

“W-who are you?” I asked her, but she didn’t reply, instead she rushed towards me and tried to knock me over.

“Aah!” I screamed. I continued running down the corridor and ran into a large room, locking the door behind me. I had no idea where I was. I pressed my back against the door, trying to keep it closed. I could hear the lady scratching the other side of the door with her fingernails. I took a deep breath and began searching the walls for a light switch, until finally, I found one. I hit it and the room lit up with a pale yellow glow.

I could see the room fairly clearly now. It appeared to be a dressing room with a dressing table in one corner an a large white closet in another.

Wow. I thought to myself. This is amazing.

I was worried about how to get out of the room. I couldn’t hear scratching anymore, but what if she was still there?

I moved back towards the door and opened the door slightly. I peered through the space between the wall and the door and saw nothing, no one.

I opened the door fully and slipped through, looking from side-to-side from time to time to make sure no one was there. I was sure until I heard a voice coming from behind me.

“Where do you think you’re going?” the lady said, her bright red hair covering half of her face.

I turned around, paused for a second and then began running. I ran and ran further and further down the corridor. I could hear the clicking of her high heels on the hard tile floor behind me.

I was scared but kept on running, I didn’t stop.

Just then, the clicking stopped and all I could hear was the squeaking of my trainers underneath me.

Is she following me? I thought to myself. Or did she get tired and give up? I knew I shouldn’t stop, but I myself was getting too tired for words. I started to slow down until I came to a stop.

I turned around to see if she was following me and to my surprise, she was standing right behind me.
