[A/N: hehehe I've decided to write this chapter from Entrapta'a POV 1) because well duh, it's going to make everything make sense etc. and 2) because angst and suspense for the Glimmer situation🤝, so you'll most likely find out about why Glimmer's eyes were glowing in the next chapter... p.s. this chapter is written a week or so before the last one! Enjoy!]
[Entrapta's POV]
The communication signal within the necklace has been weak recently.
Mara and I had gone to see Sarah two weeks ago, but I don't think she's very trustworthy. She seemed to have made a connection to the necklace when we had brought it to her, the necklace glowing in her presence, and her and Mara's eyes glowing then quickly dimming, but that could've just as well been good timing.
- "Mara, are you sure we shouldn't tell the girls that we've been seeing Sarah?" I question curiously, "What if they know something! What if they've also gone to see-"
- "We can't. It's not safe. We just have to hope they haven't spoken to her." Mara answers emotionless.
As we worked in my tech classroom, she had become increasingly distant and awkward over the last month or so.
I wasn't sure what was happening, I'm not very good at people, but I know something was bothering her. As if she wasn't able to tell me something. She hadn't even let me test on her, or see why her connection with a very specific memory, had been weaker than the other girls.
Needless to say, she wasn't being very helpful these days.
As for the girls, they had come to see us from time to time, but my readings show that they too, weren't being fully honest, which is why I made sure to ask Mara if she thought they were safe.
- "We haven't seen the necklace glow in a whole week. You haven't had any visions either. I wonder what happened." I begin, letting the cogs in my brain turn.
- "Hmm, you're right. Usually it glows, even if nothing is happening, but it seems like it's dimmed recently." Mara answered flatly.
- "I should probably run more tests! Maybe then I connectivity of the device further and increase its potential." I giggle, looking down and fiddling with the necklace.
I was glad Mara had asked me to help her. I was familiar with the concept of magic for a long time, and Mara had even shown me a bit when I first came to speak with her, upon applying to work at Bright Moon.
- "Yes. I have a feeling, however, that Sarah was telling the truth." Mara explained.
- "About what?"
- "That the necklace is only connected to those who are part of my biological family... Although, I wouldn't know how Catra would be able to connect with it."
- "Well that's simple," I respond, smiling and looking up at her, "it's not about what's happening now. It's about what's going to happen in the future. Someone connected to the necklace could be a seer or a sorcerer."
- "That's absurd, who else would be connected to the necklace? I made the necklace myself, I would have to know the person to be able to make a connection."
- "You didn't know Catra before she connected to it, right?" I inspect.
- "I mean, we had spoken once or twice, but not in a way where it would've possibly allowed a connection with a magical artefact I created."
she responded, running her fingers through her hair.- "Hmm... If the necklace is connected to thoughts and memories, maybe Catra was having a flashback to something when she was younger as you spoke. It's just a theory, but hear me out.," I begin, "did she seem in any way distant or 'out of it' when you two spoke?"
