"Stay here Eggo," Tenebris told their horse, gently patting him. Tying Eggo to a tree, Tenebris entered the dark oak forest, fading away from view as the fog swallowed them. Their flowing black cape snapped in the wind as their pair of worn combat boots made nearly unnoticeable prints in the damp mulch. Despite their line of vision being impaired due to the early morning fog, their steady breaths and eased saunter let anyone, or anything, know that they were the epitome of calm and collected.

Faintly spotting a cow grazing a few meters away, Tenebris slowed their steps and tiptoed to an area out of the way from the direction of the wind. They took their bow and arrow out with care, as it was one of their most prized possessions. It was carved beautifully, the small indentations curling around the curve of the bow. They admired the fine workmanship, then took an arrow out of their quiver. Aiming the arrow, they squinted, trying to get a more focused view through the fog.

They saw the cow was actually attached to a fence, 'Hm, that's weird, but it'll be easier to kill it,' Tenebris thought but shrugged it off. Taking a deep breath and pulling the arrow back to their cheekbone, they let go and the arrow whizzed through the air, finding its mark in the cow's skull.

'A perfect shot,' smiled Tenebris as they got up to get their next few meals. Walking up to the dead cow, they noticed a small name tag around its neck, "Henry". Tenebris's face fell, they might of been a mysterious being but their heart had a soft spot for animals. They hated the idea that they had just killed someone's pet for food. A small grumble went through the air, reaching Tenebris's ears. They grabbed their stomach, feeling a small twinge of guilt but knew how hungry they had been for the past week. Looking around before cutting the rope attaching the cow to the fence, they hoisted the cow up onto their shoulders. They sighed and began to head back. Seeing Eggo through the fog, they smiled at him, who snorted softly, seeming to remorse with Tenebris.

"Alright buddy, let's go back to the cave," and with that, they set off towards the rising sun.

Unbeknownst to Tenebris and their trusty horse, a man with a simple smiley face mask watched them ride off into the sunrise. They left him with many questions, all of them unanswered.
