Three days till Hogwarts, Remus thought hopefully as he laid on the shitty bed in his small shitty bedroom.

His dad hated werewolves and so does his stepmother, and neither of them thought that Remus deserved a good life.

It was the summer going into sixth year and Remus couldn't be more thrilled to get away from this hell hole. Hope Lupin died the same night Remus was bitten nearly eleven years ago. She wasn't attacked, Remus wasn't even a hundred percent sure she died. The next morning she wasn't home and didn't return, so the lycanthrope assumed she was dead. Or maybe started a normal family with a muggle. Maybe he has step-siblings that he doesn't know about.

His bedroom walls were an ugly pale green wallpaper that peeled near the baseboard with simple framed pictures of some random flowers. It resembled more of a guest bedroom than a child's personalized bedroom; it kinda was as when there were guests over Lyall and Cassaundra made him stay in the cellar he transformed in.

It was completely horrid down there.

Remus knew he could fight his guardians if he wanted to due to his werewolf strength but they had silver planted all over the house, which made it hard to.

The boy groaned at the sound of Cassaundra's screechy high-pitched voice.

He got off the bed and closed his book, stumbling downstairs, still sore from the moon prior. Muggle bandages and medicine didn't do much help to werewolf wounds and scars.

Cassaundra was an oddly tall woman with small beady eyes and blonde hair that just about reached the floor. She had tons of makeup caked on her face that made her look sweaty and gross. Either Remus' gay was showing or Lyall had a bad taste in woman. Probably both.

The nasty lady narrowed her eyes at the boy leaning casually against the wall, as if bored. "Well?!" She barked. "Get to the cellar!"

Remus rolled his eyes. "More guests? Surprising anyone would like to be friends with you."

The blue-eyed woman flushed red with anger and embarrassment. She grabbed a silver coin and threw it at the boy. It hit his wrist and fell to the floor. Remus hissed in pain and clutched his wrist, watching it swell up. "Fuck you," he spat through gritted teeth. Remus had a high pain tolerance but silver was a no-go and Cassaundra used that to her advantage eagerly. 

She smirked. "What were you saying?" She asked sweetly as if she didn't just burn her step-son.

"Nothing." Remus went to grab the cooling lotion from the shelf but Cassaundra accioed it before he could. 

"Ah-ah," she tutted. "Need to learn your lesson. Now shoo, out of my way." Her heels clicked against the floor as she passed with a silver plate. Remus felt dizzy from being so close to silver and walked away from her as quickly as possible and into the lounge.

Lyall glanced over the top of his newspaper but shook his head and looked back at the paper when he saw it was just Remus. Remus was glad to be ignored, knowing that the man kept a silver knife on him at all times. He could sense the silver glaring at him from the pocket of his dress pants.

"Cellar, now. Stop giving my wife such a hard time," was all he uttered.

Remus sighed irritably and flipped off his father before he made his way down the ladder into the cellar. It was a pitch-black room with bloodstains on the wall, some old and some fresh from a few nights ago. Though it was only pitch black when it was a full moon because the only window was boarded up. But since it wasn't boarded up, Remus was able to open the window to let a little to let some fresh air in.
