Regulus POVThe beds in Slytherin common room were worse than cardboard, or at least that's what I was told. Mother insisted the beds at home were rock solid; helps posture, apparently. Comparing, Slytherin's were clouds.
I trailed my fingers over the letter I had gotten that morning at breakfast. I didn't open it, waiting till later when I saw Pandora. She made me promise I'll let her read my mail first so she can see if it'll upset me or not.
This one did.
Not in context, to be honest, Mother was surprisingly calm. But it's probably because what she's asking me is so much worse.
She wants me to get the mark.
I can't I can't I can't I can't I-
"Regulus, please babe," Pandora said, taking my hand, stopping me from wrinkling the letter. "Go talk to your brother."
I shook my head, crumbling the paper in a ball. "No, he hates my guts Panda I can't-"
"Stop saying you can't," she snapped, not harshly but firmly enough I knew there was no room to argue. "Do it, Reg. He'll know how to help."
I sighed heavily, smoothing out the letter. "Fine. Where is he?"

I found Siri and his friends James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew by the lake. He was laying in the arms of his boyfriend. It sort of made my heart ache. He was free of Mother and Father, he could be whoever he wanted to be now.
I can't be gay or asexual or anything I really am. I'm the last heir.
I swallowed, hard, before making my way down to them. Pandora was out with Xeno, an odd but strangely gentle guy. Fits both of them I suppose.
Sirius' eyes snapped to me when I was still a few feet away. Then Remus' followed, and so did Peter and James'. I focused on trying not to look away.
"Regulus?" Sirius's voice sounded like awe. My eyes darted between them. I cleared my throat, feeling utterly ridiculous in mothers fancy clothing. I didn't own anything that was truly mine, unlike Sirius in his black, painted leather jacket and skinny jeans. I remember, and could still picture, him in similar attire I'm in.
"Can- can I talk to you?" I asked, licking my lips. Sirius blinked but nodded fast, scrambling to his feet. I lead us a little ways away, still in sight but not in hearing range.
"I got this," I said, pulling the wrinkled note out, and handing it to him. He took it and read it over, a few times with different expressions.
"Regulus," he breathed out, running a hand through his hair. He took a quick glance at his friends who were watching intently. "You're- you're not doing it, are you?"
I shook my head, looking down at my feet and shoving my hands in my pockets. "No, Siri. But I don't know what to do now. To avoid it, I mean."
Sirius smiled a little at the nickname. He started folding the note, before pausing and ripping the thing to pieces.
I couldn't help it, I laughed gently. "Always disobeying orders. Don't you remember rule 19?"
He laughed too. "Never discard of my mail. Right after 18. Never use the words 'I forgot'."
