(Remus hasn't told Sirius he likes him yet here and vice versa)

Remus shut the door to the bathroom, tears streaming down his face. He could hear Sirius screaming still through the door, calling him weak for running away instead of talking to him.

The black-haired boy was pissed at something Remus must have done, though the werewolf wasn't sure what he was upset about exactly. He just came into the dorm and started shouting.

It hurt to be yelled at by the one you love.

Remus had a massive headache as it was because of the pending moon. Everywhere hurt, preparing for the transformation. When the screaming faded away Remus pushed himself from the floor and stood in front of the mirror. His eyes were red and puffy and he looked like a total mess.

The boy let out a quiet sob, not knowing what he did wrong. But it didn't surprise him, he managed to mess up everything important.

"BLACK!"

Lily stormed into the common room, pulling out her wand. Sirius rolled his eyes from where he sat on the couch.

"Not in the mood for your tormenting Evans," he grumbled, feeling upset from his fight with Remus. Lily didn't listen. She set her wand down creepily calmly and gently pushed James aside then slapped the eldest Black brother straight across the face.

"I can't fucking believe you," she said through gritted teeth, not feeling one ounce of sympathy for him and ignoring James' yells. "He could die tonight, Black. I was in the Hospital wing helping Madam Pomfrey when he came in. And guess what he did. He hugged me and talked to me as if it would be his last time, saying how thankful he was for me."

Sirius stared at her, not even phased by the slap. By the way James went silent told him that he, too, could not process the thought that their best friend could die. And to think they almost completed the Animagi process.

"I-" Sirius whispered. "I need to go talk to him."

Lily shook her head with tears pooling in her eyes, sitting down on one of the couches. "It's too late." As if on cue, loud howls echoed through the night resulting in winces from the five sitting in the deserted common room.

They sat in silence for a while, before Sirius spoke up. "Rebecca told me he was talking to Reg. I got mad because we made a promise to never interfere with the Blacks like that. But what I didn't know was that Reg came to him, asking Moons if he'd tell me he wanted to talk to me. Remus just wanted to pass on the message but I got pissed and didn't let him explain," Sirius explained quietly, taking a deep breath. "A-and now, he might d-die because of me."

Despite how mad she was at Sirius, Lily pulled him into a hug anyway. "He'll be okay," she whispered, trying to convince the both of them.

As soon as the moon went down, James, Sirius, Peter, and Lily left the castle and went straight for the shack.

Having never been in there before on Remus' request, Lily gasped at the state of it. According to the boys it was worse than usual because this time the wolf really tore it up.

Sirius immediately searched for Remus and found him passed out near the destroyed bed laying in a pool of his own blood. Two large scars crossed his face and multiple more littered his body, much worse than other months.

"Oh Rem," the silver-eyed boy whispered, a tear slipping down his cheek. He crouched down next to him and settled the boy's head in his lap while Lily performed a few healing spells that she learned from Madam Pomfrey while Peter went to go get the said lady.

Checking the small boy's pulse, Sirius almost cried with relief when he knew Remus was still alive even if in obvious pain. He leaned down and kissed his forehead.

"Is Rem..." James trailed off, unable to say such a word in the same sentence as his best friend's name.

"No- no, he's still here but just barely." Sirius gently moved strands of sweaty hair away from Remus' eyes. "I'm so sorry," the long-haired boy mumbled, voice thick with emotion. Madam Pomfrey showed up and quickly did all the repairs she could while Remus still laid passed out cold in Sirius' arms.

The group walked back up to the Hospital Wing together. Madam Pomfrey offered to use magic to float Remus there but Sirius refused to let go of him; he wouldn't let go of him again, not now not ever.

"Minnie's excused us from class," James offered in an attempt to lighten the mood. It's already the next day and Remus still hasn't woken up.

Sirius tried to smile, casting a longing glance to Remus. He wasn't as pale or as bloody as he was in the shack, but the scars across his face still looked as painful as ever, as did the rest of his injuries.

When Remus woke it was the next day, and Sirius was unluckily on one of his bathroom breaks which otherwise, he was always next to Remus' side.

"Oh good, you're awake!" said Madam Pomfrey with relief. She checked him over, waving her wand and muttering strange spells to diagnose injuries.

"Wheres-" Remus choked out, unable to remember what happened. He also caught himself for asking where Sirius was, and that thought almost made him cry. He's obviously not here he doesn't like you anymore.

"Sirius is in the bathroom, and it took a lot of convincing to get him to go shower. He hasn't left your side since you were brought here," the older lady explained knowingly with a twinkle in her eye.

Remus, too exhausted to respond, slowly drifted off to sleep again.

-----

The next time Remus woke, it was to Sirius' gentle thumb caressing his scarred hand and soothing, deep voice.

"Thankfully you're asleep, and won't hear me confessing my literal love for you but I can't express how much you mean to me and how fucking sorry I am for putting you through this. I forgot how much fights affect you, especially full moon nights. I'm an idiot, I know, and I would understand if you couldn't forgive me but I hope you do- I really really hope you do."

"I love you too," Remus whispered, squeezing Sirius' hand back weakly.

Sirius was silent for a moment until Remus felt the bed dip slightly and forced his eyes open to see Sirius gawking at him from above.

"Hi," Remus scrunched up his nose, feeling the fresh scars there. Sirius couldn't help a smile, cupping the smaller boy's jaw and caressing his soft skin. "Hey."

Remus scooted over carefully, making sure not to anger any of his injuries. He patted the space next to him and Sirius granted his unspoken request by climbing in next to him. Remus smiled and snuggled closer to the taller boy while Sirius wrapped his arms around Remus's thin torso loosely as to not hurt him.

"I'm so sorry," Sirius murmured after a few moments. "I understand it wasn't your fault, I realized the situation and wanted to go talk to you but it was too late. I'm sorry, Moons."

Remus rested his head on Sirius' chest, tracing the paths of the two tattoos he had (which Lily had strictly lectured him on since he was underaged). He couldn't think of anything to say, so he didn't.

The two laid there for a while, Sirius' fingers threaded through Remus' tawny-colored hair. He hummed a couple of stray songs.

"Can I kiss you, please?" Sirius asked quietly.

Remus looked up at him, and Sirius was caught nearly breathless at how gorgeous the boy in his arms is. He would never forgive Greyback for setting Remus up for this pain that he'll have to suffer with for the rest of his life.

"Yeah, please do," Remus whispered breathlessly. Sirius surged forward to press his thin and smooth lips to Remus' plump and ever-so-soft ones. He couldn't explain how much joy surged through him, he's waited for this moment forever and it's finally here.

Yeah, he would say he could stay in this moment forever.
