"Oh my god, her dad was so hot!" Gia gaped, grasping Moon's phone in her hand. A young Daniel LaRusso was standing in the photo, wearing a black karate gi, his hair tousled and his expression intense.

Moon burst out laughing, "Was?"

Giovanna scrunched her nose, shaking her head as a playful grin spread across her face. "Okay, fine, was... and still is. Look at him." She held the phone up again like she was proving a point. "Total heartthrob material. No wonder he was such a legend back in the day."

The two girls were sprawled across Gia's bed, shoulders bumping as they scrolled through more old photos of Daniel LaRusso, giggling between each swipe. Moon smirked, clearly enjoying herself. "I'm totally telling Sam you have a crush on her dad."

Gia grabbed Moon's arm before she could even think about moving. "Moon, don't you dare."

Moon was already laughing too hard to answer, her shoulders shaking as she tried to pull the phone back. "Oh my god, I have to. Sam will never let you live this down."

"Moon!" Gia hissed, though she was laughing just as much. She snatched the phone again, clutching it to her chest like it was evidence in a trial.

"You literally said he was a heartthrob," Moon shot back, grinning wildly. "Your exact words."

"I said he was," Gia insisted, even though her face was turning pink. "Back in the day!"

Moon leaned closer, lowering her voice dramatically. "You also said still is."

Gia buried her face in her pillow with a muffled groan. "I hate you."

Moon flopped beside her, giggling. "Imagine Sam's face. 'Hey Sam, funny story, Gia's in love with your dad.'"

Gia immediately popped her head up. "I am not in love with her dad!"

Moon nudged her with her shoulder, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Alright," she said, tilting her head. "Enough about Sam's dad."

Gia eyed her suspiciously. "Why do I feel like you're about to start something?"

Moon's smile only widened. "I'm just curious," she said innocently, though the mischievous glint in her eyes gave her away. "Anyone interesting on your radar lately?"

Gia smirked but let out a small sigh. "No," she said, stretching her arms above her head. "Let's just say going from the men in Tokyo to the guys here is like going from a five-star buffet to a fast-food drive-thru. Don't get me wrong, there are some decent options here. It's just... not the same."

Moon's eyes widened instantly. She pushed herself up on her elbows. "Wait, hold on. Back up. You can't just casually drop Tokyo like that and move on." She pointed at Gia. "You've been out of the country and you're only telling me this now?"

Gia shrugged. "I spent most of my time there. That's where my team was based." She picked at a loose thread on her blanket. "But we traveled a lot too, different countries for competitions, events, stuff like that."

Moon listened, fascinated. "But coming back here..." Gia continued, glancing around her room. "It feels weird. Like everything's moving slower and I'm trying to readjust to a completely different rhythm."

Moon tilted her head thoughtfully. "Like reverse culture shock?"

Gia nodded a little. "Yeah, kind of. Over there everything was so busy all the time. Training, traveling, competitions, press stuff... it was nonstop." She let out a small laugh. "Here it's likeD school, hanging out, normal life. My brain's still catching up."
