"You're shitting me?" Leo whisper yelled, his jaw dropping open.

Gia plastered the feigned smile on her lips, urging him to not make a scene. They lightly spared, tossing punches back and forth while the other blocked. He couldn't believe what he was hearing, but Gia's calm demeanor kept him in check.

"And he just, left?" He glanced around, making sure Robby was no where to be found. He wasn't, not really. He was on the other side of the dojo, partnered with Tory.

She inhaled, feeling the tightness in her chest return. "It's fine, really." She mumbled, attempting to mask the pure embarrassment seeping into her core.

Leo's gaze flickered back to Gia, his frustration simmering beneath the surface. She avoided his eyes, focusing instead on steadying her breath, hoping to regain some semblance of composure before their training session ended.

"No," he whispered. "It is absolutely not fine."

She blocked his punch automatically. "People get weird sometimes.

"Gia."

She avoided his eyes. "Maybe I misread it."

Leo stopped mid-motion. Actually stopped.

Gia blinked, lowering her guard slightly. "...What?"

Leo stared at her like she had personally insulted him. His hand slowly dropped from its blocking position as he straightened up, squinting at her like he was trying to decide if she was serious.

"You," he whispered dramatically, pressing a hand to his chest, "think you misread that?"

Gia frowned. "Why are you acting like I just attacked you?"

"Because," Leo hissed, stepping closer while still half-heartedly batting away her next punch, "I am offended on your behalf."

Gia rolled her eyes, her smile faltering slightly.
"Leo, focus. You're not helping."

Leo scoffed. "Oh, absolutely not."

Then he gestured between them again. "You're walking around here acting like you hallucinated a moment straight out of a rom-com and I'm supposed to just let that slide?"

Gia blinked. "...A rom-com?"

"Yes," he said firmly. "And frankly, I expected better judgment from him."

She frowned. "Why?"

Leo tilted his head. "Because if I almost kissed you under the stars and then just walked away?"He spread his hands dramatically. "I would simply never recover from that level of stupidity."

Gia burst out laughing despite herself. "You're ridiculous."

"Am I?" he shot back, lowering his voice again but keeping the same theatrical energy. "Because I'm pretty sure the man almost had a life-altering moment in a park and then panicked."

Gia shook her head, trying to calm down as she reset her stance. "That's not what happened."

"Then explain it to me."

She hesitated. Leo leaned closer, eyes narrowing suspiciously. "Exactly."

Gia exhaled slowly, forcing her breathing to steady again as they resumed their slow sparring rhythm."Maybe he just didn't want to make things weird," she muttered.
