Giovanna eagerly nods at Tory, smiling brightly at her friend as the cop scanned the wand over her body. They checked her bag, and then waved her through the security checkpoint. Gia had gone first, and she had a front row seat as her friend looked more out of place than she ever did.
She ignored the whispers and strange looks the others were giving Tory, linking her arm through hers once Tory was clear. They were in this together, no matter how out of place Tory felt. Gia's reassuring grip on her arm helped Tory focus, attempting to hold her head higher.
"So," Giovanna began, stepping closer to Tory. "I only have a couple classes with you, but I'll meet you back at lunch?"
Tory began to nod as they turned the corner, coming face to face with Sam LaRusso. She could feel Tory shaking, Gia refused to let her face drop. "Hi, Sam." She greets, the girl didn't spare a glance in her direction.
Tory swallows, glancing at Gia who gave a reassuring squeeze. "I heard you let me in, LaRusso. So I guess I should-"
"I don't know what kind of game you're playing, but I'm not scared of you." Sam bites, cutting Tory's apology off. Gia sighed, closing her eyes. Tory had rehearsed an apology to Gia on their way to school over and over again, and now she was being interrupted before she could even finish.
Gia could feel the tension between them, and she knew Tory was struggling to keep her composure. "You're not in control here. I am" Sam continued, "My parents might fall for your bullshit, but if you so much as look at me funny, I will kick your ass for a third time."
Gia tilted her head up, sighing. Gia knew that Sam was determined to assert her dominance, but she also saw the pain and anger in Tory's eyes. "I'm coming for you, bitch." Sam remarked, knocking her shoulder into Torys as she passed by them.
Gia tightened her grip on Tory's arm, offering a reassuring smile. "Don't let her get to you, Tory. She's just trying to provoke you," she murmured softly.
Tory, however, shook her head, her frustration boiling over. "I don't need a pep talk right now, Gia," she snapped, pulling her arm away. "I need to figure out how to survive this place without losing my mind."
Gia sighs again as Tory leaves her standing in the hall, running a hand through her hair. Gia watched her retreating figure, frowning.
Moon settles next to her, beaming. "Hey! You have your room back yet? I miss your dog, and your bed."
Gia chuckles, shaking her head. "You miss hogging my bed and ogling my dad." She corrects, Moon shrugs unapologetically.
Moon shrugged unapologetically. "Your dad is objectively good-looking. That's not my fault."
Gia groaned, leaning back against the headboard. "You cannot keep saying that about my father."
"I absolutely can," Moon said brightly. "I have eyes."
Gia rolled her eyes but smiled. "But, yes, I'm back home. Wanna sleepover?"
"Sleepover?" Kyler saddles up in between them, throwing his arms around their shoulders. "Count me in." He winks, Moon shoves him off her with a laugh.
"You will never see the inside of my room," Gia quips, peeling his arm off her shoulder with her fingers.
Moon grinned at him, completely unbothered. "It's a girls' sleepover."
