Chapter 9 - It's not going to work

A few hours later;

Fatin tried to distract Toni once again, from the absurdity that was happening between Shelby and Hunter, who still haven't left each other's side. Fatin couldn't begin to fathom with the fact that Shelby was ignoring everyone, especially Toni, whom she claimed to 'love.'

"Let's play spin the bottle." Dot announced, causing the girls and the guys to sit around the fire, that was brewing. "Hunter and Shelby, that includes you both as well."

Both Hunter and Shelby nodded, making their way to the others. Toni looked at the sand, playing with it with her hands, ignoring Shelby's gaze. Hunter and Shelby sat next to one another, causing Toni to scoff and shake her head. The others heard it, but chose to ignore it. Everyone positioned themselves, so they weren't that close to the fire. Dot placed the empty beer bottle in the middle, and then began to sit down.

"I'll go first. I am ready for some action." Fatin voiced, spinning the bottle. Everyone made it more dramatic by repeatedly hitting the sand, attempting to make a drum, but failed drastically.

The bottle landed on Archie, causing Fatin to cheer. She immediately attached her lips onto Archie's. The pair kissed for a few seconds, before Dot interrupted them, by trying to pull them away from each other.

"Okay lovebirds. Other people need to kiss as well." Leah remarked.

"Don't get jealous, Leah." Fatin smirked, causing Leah to shake her head.

It was Toni's turn now. She didn't want to really kiss anyone, because firstly, she's definitely not into kissing guys, but then again, 'spin the bottle' is a game with no attachments. Secondly, she didn't want to kiss Shelby because of all the drama that was happening between herself, Shelby and Hunter. Even though, they probably don't know that she's angry at them, because they always have their attention on each other. She wouldn't be apposed to kissing Fatin, because she was the only one she trusted, and maybe Dot. She trusted Martha, but Martha is her sister, so it would be weird. She hesitantly twirled the bottle, resulting in everyone to make it even more dramatic by shouting, 'ooooooooo.' Toni has never been this nervous before.

She closed her eyes, and only opened it when everyone was quiet. The bottle was pointing at... Hunter.

Toni was completely disgusted with the fact that it landed on Hunter. Out of everyone, she didn't want it to land on him. She thought about it, and realised she could use this to her advantage. She could make Shelby jealous. Toni smiles at that fact, and wiggles her eyebrows at Hunter.

"I guess we have to follow the rules, and kiss." Toni uttered smirking, causing everyone to look at her with shock.

"Are you sure? You don't have to if you don't want to." Hunter replied, but that didn't stop Toni from making her way towards Hunter.

"It doesn't need to mean anything, so fucking shut up, and kiss me back. Or, are you too much of a pussy, to kiss me? Toni seductively asked.

Hunter let out a low chuckle, before uttering, "I ain't a pussy."

"Good to know." Toni finished by attacking Hunter's lips, harshly. Shelby was right next to the action, making Toni smirk against Hunter's lips. Toni focussed on making sure Hunter enjoyed the kiss. Toni wasn't going to lie.... Hunter is a good kisser. She would be into it, if she wasn't gay.

Toni shoved her tongue inside Hunter's mouth, causing him to let out a low groan. Toni knew Shelby was beyond jealous, at that sound, wishing it was her. Hunter reciprocated the kiss, by copying Toni's action, softly shoving his tongue into Toni's mouth. Toni faked a low moan, wrapping her arms around Hunter's neck, signifying she was really 'getting into it.' Hunter softly gripped at Toni's sides, passionately kissing her. Toni let out a string of low groans, before pulling Hunter's bottom lip with her own, and bit it before pulling away.

She smiled at Hunter, who was absolutely star struck at the kiss that Toni gave him. She then turned her gaze towards Shelby, who was staring at her, with confusion.

"You're probably the best kisser I have had. You are definitely better than the other people I have kissed." Toni smirked, keeping her gaze on Shelby, before turning back to Hunter, giving him a quick peck on his lips, completely angering Shelby and, shocking Hunter once again.

Toni made her way back to her place, and sat back down. Everyone was completely flabbergasted at what happened between Toni and Hunter, especially the girls, who knew about Toni and Shelby's 'relationship.' The guys had a brief idea that Toni and Shelby were together, except Hunter. I mean, Toni wasn't quite subtle, with the gazes she gave to Shelby.

"Wow... Ok..... Am I the only one who found that display.. really hot?" Fatin declared, causing Toni to smirk, Hunter to softly smile, and everyone else to stare at her, with a 'what the fuck look.'

"I am.. gonna go. Please can no one follow me? I want to be alone." Shelby finally spoke up, standing up, and walking away from everyone. Toni wouldn't lie, when she said that she felt a little bit of guilt at what she did, however she didn't care. It was only a game, and she isn't even in a relationship with Shelby, so she can't be possessive. The only thing Toni regrets was not making Shelby her girlfriend, before they came across the boys.

"I feel like, so shitty right now." Hunter broke the silence, admitting what he was feeling.

"Why?" Nora questioned.

"I shouldn't be kissing someone, who Shelby is deeply in love with." Hunter stated, causing everyone's eyes to widen. They didn't even acknowledge the fact that Hunter was always watching what was happening between Toni and Shelby. Toni looked at Hunter, and Hunter returned her gaze.

"It was wrong of me to do so. It complicated things a lot." Hunter continued.

"Hunter, I want you to be straight with me. Are you into Shelby, in a romantic way?" Fatin asked the question that everyone wanted to know the answer to, especially Toni.

"I don't see Shelby in a romantic way. She's like the sister I never had. She's kind. She's sweet. She's smart. She's great at comforting others, and reassuring them. Anyone would be lucky to have her. I am lucky to have met her." Hunter replies, causing Toni to feel like shit.

"It doesn't necessarily mean that Shelby isn't into you. I care about Shelby's decision, because her decision could end up hurting my best friend." Martha announced, softly smiling at Toni, who reciprocated.

"Shelby sees me like a brother. Even if she did like me romantically, I wouldn't reciprocate those feelings, because I can see how Toni looks at Shelby." Hunter looked at Toni. "I would definitely not want to compete with you, Toni." Hunter smiles, causing Toni to smile.

"I mean, Shelby is definitely lucky if you kiss her like you kissed me." Hunter remarked, causing everyone to laugh, easing the mood. Toni embarrassingly, places her head in her hands, shaking it. She lifts her head up, laughing.

"We cool now?" Hunter asked Toni.

"We're cool." Toni answered, causing Hunter to let out a light breath in relief. Everyone couldn't stop laughing at how Hunter was definitely scared of Toni. I mean, who could blame him?

Everyone felt so at ease with everyone's presence. It was the first time, in quite awhile, where everyone was happy.

Well, except from one person, who was looking from afar, drinking a bottle of alcohol, trying to drain her feelings of jealousy and anger.

But it didn't work.

She still felt so worthless. I guess it was a recurring theme in Shelby's life.
