"You're a disgrace to the family!" Shouted a voice.

"What?" Shelby groggily asked, confused at who had said that.

"I can't believe that you became a dyke!" Shelby recognised the voice. It belonged to her dad.

"Please, daddy. Let me explai—"

"Explain what!! You're a lesbian! Do I need to tell you how much of a sin that is?! Being gay goes against all of our values and beliefs!" Shelby's dad exclaimed, making Shelby cry at how she was being treated.

"I don't want to see you ever again!"

"I don't see what's wrong with being with a girl, daddy. Love is love. It has no gender. I love he—"

Shelby was interrupted with a slap to her face.

Shelby jolted awake, inhaling and exhaling quite heavily. That nightmare that she had, really took a toll on her. She didn't want to hurt her family.

She looked to her right, to see Toni still sleeping, snoring softly. Shelby didn't even realise she was smiling, when she looked at Toni. Shelby always thought that Toni was so damn beautiful, and she was right.

Shelby gazed at Toni's lips, feeling an urgent desire to kiss them. As she was leaning in, she remembered her nightmare, and thought twice about the action.

Shelby sighs softly, looking forward with tears in her eyes. She didn't want to hurt Toni, but she knew that she wouldn't have any control over her actions, if they were influenced by her homophobic father.

Shelby cries softly, at the tiniest idea of hurting Toni. The one she truly wanted in this world, not Andrew.

"What's wrong, Shelby?" Toni questioned groggily to a tearful Shelby.

Toni slowly sat up, and looked at Shelby. Toni began to worry, at the fact that Shelby was crying.

"Why are you crying?" Toni slowly turned Shelby's head, so they were looking at each other.

Toni felt her heart sink, when she looked at Shelby's face. Her lips were quivering, her eyes were puffy and red. Toni still thought she was the most beautiful person she has ever laid her eyes on.

Toni used her thumb, to wipe off the tears that were streaming down Shelby's face, not being able to see Shelby upset.

Shelby let out a small smile at Toni's gesture of affection. Shelby leans into Toni's shoulder, and breaks down crying.

Toni instantly wrapped her arms around Shelby, softly squeezing her. Toni rubbed slow circles on Shelby's back, hoping that Shelby's crying would subside. Toni slowly rocked back and forth, trying to make Shelby feel safer, and more comfortable.

After a few minutes, Shelby's crying slowly subsided, causing Toni to just hug her. Shelby slowly pulls her head away from Toni's shoulder, to look her in the eyes.

"Thank you for calming me down, Toni." Shelby expressed calmly.

Toni smiles, before replying: "You're welcome. Do you want to talk about it?"
