Cobra stares at me, his eyes serious as he watches me and I arch a brow. "What?" He stares at me longer before stepping forward and kissing me harshly stunning me into silence as he pulls away with a hard stare. Blank with emotions. A cover, to hide behind.
"Be careful." He growls and steps away dropping his gaze to the weapon in his hand. His voice shook slightly, quivered in the slightest. I watch him before I sigh and step forward, grabbing his free hand, before I touch his jaw making him look at me.
"Cobra, I'll be fine." I tell him softly and offer a slight smile. "You're watching my six, just keep me posted. I'll be quick, I promise." He stares at me and gives a jerky nod. I nod in return and I step back slowly.
"Do it quickly, I'll cover you." With one last glance I sigh and turn towards the entrance of the alley, moving to find my next source of cover. If shit goes wrong, act like a drunken tourist and pray they don't recognize you.
"I'll be as fast as I can." I murmur before I move to duck behind my newest cover, a stack of pallets, left to weather the rain. Lucky for me. This side of the marina only has one standing light that continues to flicker ominously. As if this place needs help. The weight of the weapon that normally settles on my back is gone, leaving me feeling vulnerable. I don't like it. I peek around the corner and scan the surroundings, looking for figures that hide in the shadows. The manufactured silence is beaten by the water slapping the docks.
Nothing moves and I make mine, heading closer as I keep crouched, making myself smaller. "Hellion, take it easy, will you. I want to scan more of the surroundings before you start progressing more." I glance back at him with an arched brow.
"What are you looking for? No one is here, I've watched the route they take to patrol this part." I respond watching him as he meets my gaze, his piercing stare meeting mine from the shadows.
"So? They said Marcy is in the area. Who the hell is Marcy and why did that stop them?" I pause and give a shrug.
"Cobra, right now I can't figure that out, I'm in the open and I want to finish this up." He stares at me before his eyes scan the back half of the marina, the majority hidden by storage containers. More placed to hide out. Not an addition that I want to be digging through. As Gears would lovingly call it, hot zones for assholes wanting to give me a new asshole. I don't need another one of those. I'm kind of attached to the one I have now.
"You're clear, hit the next break point and I'll watch for signs. Do you have any idea of keeping yourself out of sight if someone does walk up?" There's always the water.
"There are boats and water. One of the two will harbor me just fine." Not ideal but not like I have an option.
"That doesn't sound fun. Or safe." I roll my eyes, making my move to one of the barrels on the dock.
"It's all I got, just watch the dock's entrance." I shake my head with a sigh as I move down the dock, glancing around, my eyes scan the docked boats. Not many fit the description. That doesn't mean anything, I need to find the right boat, get that connection. Find out everything I need to know. The luxury of time is long gone, especially with all that's exploding in my face. An added bonus. A heavy sigh slips past my lips as I near the end of the dock. Three boats from the last, small and fairly unrecognizable considering the rest of the yachts.
"What are you hunting for again?"
"Cobra, I need to know who owns the boat. Maybe I can find something damning on them. A connection, there has to be something that I can use to put something together." I don't peg these morons to be smart enough to think a head and attempt to hide evidence. If my hunch is correct, these idiots have left a few things laying out in the open. With any luck, this'll be an easy in and out. Of course with how my luck rolls. Not promising. Moving closer I set my sights on the needed boat and I get giddy.
