Jay's POV
I could see that Erin was crying on the inside. I know her so well. We made eye contact across the room. As soon as we finished the briefing, I walked over and hugged her tightly to give her some comfort and support. We're all still sad after what happened to Nadia but it's different for Erin. She still blames herself for the murder of her best friend.
"Thank you." she whispered in my ear.
"We got a location." Mouse said. "3119 West Bargen Street."
We all geared up. Just like old times I helped Erin secure her vest.
"I missed this." Erin said.
"Me too. I'm guessing you're talking about us being back in the field together." I said and giggled.
"Yes. I still go in the field in NY."
Erin drove in the back of mine and Hailey's truck.
"You remember when I finally let you drive for the first time?" Erin asked.
"Yeah, I told you it was my dream car and that I'd probably mentioned it in my sleep." I answered.
"He still talks about it in his sleep." Hailey added.
We all laughed. Erin and Hailey would've been best friends by now if Erin had stayed.
We got to the scene. We all drew our guns and went to search the house.
"kitchen's clear." Adam said.
"Upstairs' clear." Hailey and Kim said.
"In here!" Erin shouted.
A woman was lying unconscious on the living room floor.
"Look. Blue nail polish." Kevin said and pointed at the victim's hand.
"It's still wet." Adam kneeled down and felt the nail polish.
"There's someone outside." Hank said.
Everyone drew their guns again. Kevin walked out the back door with his gun high.
