Chapter 15

Burgess' POV
An ambulance arrived at the scene. The paramedics lifted the unsub onto an ambulance bed. I walked over to them and put one end of a handcuff around his arm and the other around the sides of the bed. They brought him into the ambulance after checking his stats, which seemed fairly stable. I hopped in the back with the copycat and one of the paramedics. We took off toward Chicago Med where he could be examined further.
*A few minutes later*
"30-year-old male, hit in the head with a shovel." One paramedic said as they rushed into the emergency room.
"Hey Burgess!" I heard a voice as I walked into the ER behind the paramedics who were handling the copycat. It was Maggie greeting me.
"What's this whole police escort about?" She asked me.
"The patient is a prime suspect in a serial murder case across two states." I replied to her.

"Is he the one who hurt Erin?" Maggie asked.

"Yes, he is. She performed selfdefence by hitting him with a shovel for her to get away." I answered.

Will and April were the physicians in charge of the copycat''s treatment. I could hear their voices in the distance but not word for word what they were saying. They sounded stressed and busy trying to keep him stable. 

"I'm gonna go check on Erin. Ruzek will be here in a minute to help out if the suspect wakes up and gets violent. Okay?" I told Maggie.

"Okay, see you later." She replied.
