YUI'S NAILS TAPPED AGAINST the counter as she called out, "Hello?" Her voice was like running nails down a chalkboard the louder her voice got. "Un-fucking-believable. Making me come all the way to this end of town for some damn flowers and there isn't anyone here?"
Jurine rolled her eyes from her hiding spot, looking up as Mrs. Wei stepped through the doorway towards the counter. Only the top of her head was visible until she stepped up on the stool.
"Good morning, Miss. How can I help you?" She gave Yui the perfect example of a customer service smile.
"I'm here to pick up an order. Sugimori. If you can hurry and-" The door to the back opened with a loud smack as a man around his early thirties came in, quickly putting his shoulder-length brown hair up in a man bun.
"Sorry I'm late, Mrs. Wei. Saori was late picking up Daiya," the man explained.
"Oh perfect timing Eijun," Mrs. Wei said, giving him a friendly smile, "this young lady has a rather large order. Would you be a dear and help my husband load them into her car?"
Yui stared at the man in nothing short of discontent as if he were the reason her day was off to its horrible start. "The quicker the better if you don't mind. I've got places to be. Name is Sugimori."
The worker nodded, grabbing a pair of gloves from under the counter as he went through the back door to the area where the flowers were kept.
Jurine cursed. What the hell am I doing hiding like some criminal? It's not like I've done anything wrong. Seriously Jurine? Though she didn't fear Yui, Jurine was not in a mood to deal with her. She could easily hide here until she left.
"Juri, darling, are you still here? The tea is just about finished." Or not. Jurine moved away from the dense area of flowers, and Mrs. Wei gave a smile at her. "Ah, there you are. You wait right here. I'll go get the tea tray."
As she shuffled off, Jurine turned herself away to ignore the calculating stare from Yui. Don't say anything. Don't say-
"Rumor has it you and Atsumu went on a 'date' last night. Is it true?" She crossed her arms.
Everything in Jurine wanted her to scream no, but the line was already drawn - or in this case, the dating contract was signed. She had to stick with it and put up with Yui.
"Yes, we did! I gotta tell ya, it was pretty great." She smiled, tugging on her bottom lip as she gushed. Someone, please kill me now. "We went to this nice place, you should try it sometimes. You know, if you ever find a guy who can see what beauty there is rumored to be underneath all those warts and eyesores you have."
Yui clicked her tongue. "So you're still going to go on with this stupid-ass rumor you two have going?"
"It's not a rumor. We are dating. I know you've never experienced what it's like to have feelings for someone who isn't yourself but. . . Don't feel bad. I'm sure one day you'll find a guy who sees the good in all the bad you have. I wouldn't bet on a miracle though."
