ATSUMU TOLD HIMSELF to put it out of his mind. He told himself, what difference does it make if Jurine knew someone he didn't know. After all, there were many people around him, she didn't know. So there was no reason he'd be annoyed by this obvious fact.
Not that she knew someone, that is. It was the fact she blushed while talking to him and talked so informally. Jurine didn't show emotions like that easily, so what was so goddamn special about that prick to cause it? And what gravesite were they talking about?
Atsumu dropped his head on his desk, loud enough to cause everyone to turn and stare.
"Is there a problem, Atsumu?" The teacher asked with an annoyed look as she sat grading papers while the class worked on an assignment.
Atsumu shot his head up, the paper sticking to his forehead, obscuring his vision. "No ma'am. Sorry, ma'am." Taking the paper off, he pretended to look down at the workbook until her glare went away.
I can't believe I am actually fussing over this. Am I really that pathetic? But how the hell could I find out? Juri sure as hell won't tell me who that dude is even if I beg.
Atsumu tilted his head to the side, propping it in his open palm to look out the window. However, when he saw someone waving their pencil at him, his gaze shifted to Nikoru as she obscured her face from the teacher seeing.
"Everything okay?" she mouthed.
Atsumu stared at her like she opened up the heavens. I really AM an idiot. Who else would know Jurine better than her best friend?
"Did you guys have a funeral recently?" he whispered.
Nikoru's face twisted into a 'are you fucking high or just stupid' look as she whispered, "No? Where the heck did that come from?"
"Do you know a Kenji?"
"Why are you asking random questions?"
"Is that a yes or no?"
She sighed. "There's a Kenji Takuma in the first years."
Atsumu shook his head. "Not him. This Kenji is an adult. Like. . . Twenty-five?"
She shook her head. "Then no, I don't. Why?"
Eyeing the teacher, he leaned closer. "This past weekend, Juri and I went to some art show and I saw her talking with this dude. They seemed like they were friends because she was pretty relaxed with him. Not to mention she was talking informally with him despite him being older."
"Jurine doesn't have friends."
Atsumu gave a silent chuckle. "Which is why this was weird. So you really don't know him?" Nikoru shook her head. "What about Taiju?"
Nikoru's brows furrowed. "No. Sorry, but did you really take her there for a date?"
"Actually, it was her idea and we were only there for like twenty minutes. We went to the movies for the date," he said, tapping his pencil against the desktop. "She was really insistent on going."
