"I KNOW IT is a lot to take right now, but you don't have to come to a decision right now. You still have another year before you have to really consider what you want to do, so just think about it. How does that sound?" Mr. Tanaka smiled hopefully at Jurine. "You're the one of the best in the class, so I have no doubt you won't have an issue finding a school that will want you."
Jurine nodded, looking through the papers that he had handed to her. He called her into the office to check in on her as far as her plans after high school, but the conversation wasn't very progressive. Sure, Jurine had good grades, however, when it came to university prospects, Jurine had no fucking clue what she wanted to do.
How did one make a single decision that would affect the rest of her life so easily? How do people do it?
"Take a look at the papers I gave you and if you have any questions, you can come back to me and we can talk." Jurine nodded and turned to leave the teacher's lounge, but stopped when her eye caught a particular school flier among others lying just by the door.
Tsuji Culinary Institute.
Jurine's grip tightened on the papers in her hand, crushing them. It wouldn't hurt to consider? Nikoru and her aunt and uncle were always going on and on about her cooking skills so it wouldn't hurt to grab one of them too. Right?
"Something the matter, dear?" Mr. Tanaka's question jolted her attention.
"No, sir. Sorry, I'll get going now." Grabbing the flier, she gave one final bow and left. Reading the front and perusing through the brochure, Jurine bit at the inside of her mouth in thought. Maybe I could talk to Aunt Yukiyo and get her thoughts on it?
She started to head to class, while taking the papers into her bag, when she bumped into someone.
"Hey, watch where you are— Oh! Jurine! I was just looking for you!" Jurine looked up to see Atsumu smiling at her, two girls beside him with looks of equal irritation at her presence.
"Here I am. Why?" Atsumu instantly hugged her, pulling her towards him as she finished tucking the papers away. She tensed but managed to catch herself by grabbing onto his shirt with her hand. To the outside observer it looked like she was leaning into the hug.
The looks on the girls' faces darkened at the interaction, but the one closest to Atsumu continued talking regardless, "Like I said, Yui is having a party at her house and I wanted to extend an invitation to you."
"A party?"
The girl nodded, smiling too much to be natural and twirling her hair in that nauseatingly cute way some girls do to get attention. "It would be really great if you were there. You can bring your brother as well!"
Can someone put me out of my misery already? Talk about pathetic. Talking cutesy, twirling her hair and smiling so much that she looks like the Joker? This girl's trying too hard, but then again some guys are desperate.
