LORALIE WAITED FOR OVER AN HOUR, pacing back and forth for half of it in front of the Fat Lady portrait. The other half was spent sitting on the stairs, hoping they didn't move and talking to the Fat Lady.
It wasn't until Lora's stomach started growling with hunger did she realize how long she had been waiting. She smiled at the Fat Lady and said the password, walking into the common room.
She saw Marlene sitting on the large leather chair, watching as Alice and a boy named Frank Longbottom had a conversation, the McKinnon feeling like a third wheel.
Lora made her way over to her friends, sitting in the arm of Marlene's chair, "what are you doing back?" The blonde asked her friend.
"I never left," Lora said, putting a fake smile on her face as she looked at the girl before looking away, "I've been outside talking to the Fat Lady," she said, he smile dropping as she started picking at her nails.
"Oh, honey," Marlene cooed, scooching over to one side of the chair and pulling Loralie down to sit with her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"I shouldn't be sad about this, it was probably just a prank, you know him wanting to ask me out, and Merlin knows I love pranks. Or- or maybe it was a dare," Lora laughed, wiping a tear she hadn't realized spilled down her cheek.
"Oh, sweetheart don't think like that," Marlene said in hopes to comfort her friend, "you are so amazing, any guy would be lucky to have you."
"It doesn't feel like that right now," Lora whispered, snuggling her head into Marlenes shoulder.
The McKinnon looked up at Sirius, knowing he was on the stairs. She glared daggers at him before looking over to Lora. Sirius looked at her confused making Marlene roll her eyes.
"Go. Get. Dressed," she mouthed to the boy, hugging Loralie tighter as more tears fell from her eyes.
"What? No," Sirius mouthed back, quickly getting into a silent argument with the blonde as they went back and forth mouthing 'yes' and 'no'.
Five minutes into the argument, Remus and James came down the stairs and pulled Sirius's arms up the stairs behind them. Marlene had to bite her lips in to not laugh.
