"I'm a pretty private person so this is kinda hard for me, but here we go. I'm bisexual."
Rosa felt a wave of relief wash over her as the words left her lips. It was scary as hell, but it felt good to finally tell the squad she was bi. Her fellow detectives began asking her all sorts of questions like how long she'd known (since seventh grade) and if she'd dated any women (she had). Hitchcock asked a few gross questions which she'd obviously refused to answer.
Rosa breathed a happy sigh as she down at her desk after the briefing. All things considered, her coming out had gone really well. She felt lighter, like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. Rosa focused in on her work and didn't break her concentration until she felt someone come and sit on her desk.
"You know, for what it's worth, I'm proud of you. I know that wasn't easy," Gina says. She stares down at her phone, but her tone is sincere.
Rosa pauses and looks up from her work.
"Thanks, Gina. That means a lot."
Gina nods in acknowledgment and sashays back to her desk. Without realizing it, Rosa watches her as she goes. She watches the way her chestnut brown hair bounces with every step and studies the way her hips sway as she moves. Recently she had begun to notice things about Gina she'd never seen before. Like how the fluorescent lighting of the precinct reflected through her bright blue eyes and the way she scrunched her nose every time she laughed and the cute little face she made whenever someone got on her nerves, which was pretty often. She'd found herself losing focus and daydreaming about Gina more than a few times in the past couple of weeks.
But she wasn't attracted to Gina. She couldn't be. She was straight. Probably. And she was dating some guy named Milton. They had a kid together. So she couldn't like Gina. She just couldn't.
A little while later, Amy saunters over to Rosa's desk.
"Hey, Rosa. Jake's working late tonight so I was wondering if you wanted to go out for drinks tonight?"
"I'm down. Who else is going?"
"Just me, you, and Gina. Is eight good?"
Rosa's heart skips a beat at the mention of Gina's name. "Oh...okay," she replies hesitantly. "Eight is fine."
"Okay, great!" Amy turns on her heel and walks back to her desk.
That night, Rosa, Amy, and Gina sat around a table at Shaw's drinking and catching up.
"Gina, how's little Enigma doing?" Amy inquires.
"She's great. I'm pretty sure she's a child prodigy which makes total sense considering the Gina Linetti birthed her."
Amy chuckles in response. "You know, I think Jake and I are gonna start trying soon," she says with a huge grin on her face.
"Aww, Jake and Amy are gonna have a cute little nerd baby!" Gina replies.
"That's dope. Your kids will be cute as hell," Rosa chimes in.
"What about you, Rosa? Have you been out with any guys recently?" Amy pauses. "Oh! Or girls! Or individuals who identify outside the binary!" Amy adds, suddenly remembering the news Rosa had shared that morning.
"Two yeses and one no. But I'm not telling you which questions they correspond to," Rosa replies.
"Touche," says Amy.
Rosa had dated a few people within the past few months but didn't really have a strong connection with any of them. For some reason, she couldn't see herself being with any of them long-term.
"For the record," Gina cuts in, "I would date you. I think we'd make a hot ass couple."
"Agreed," Rosa says. She blushes and her mouth curves into a slight smile. The conversation carries on, but Rosa doesn't listen anymore. Instead, she envisions herself with Gina as her girlfriend. When Rosa's mind refocuses, she comes to a sudden realization.
Oh shit. I like Gina.
