.:The Vampires Slave:.
.:Chapter 19:.
*Samantha’s P.O.V.*
I hung the woolen blanket over the creepy mirror. Even though the mirror was pretty big, I managed it pretty well to cover every part of it. I was thirsty, but didn’t want to leave my safe place here. Sitting on the old chair, I debated leaving the room to find a bathroom or a kitchen. I decided against leaving as I heard voices echo down the hall. I quickly hurried to the door and pressed my ear against the cool wood.
“What’s that girl doing here?”
“Ashes? We brought her along with the other prisoner.”
“Well, she can share a cell with him.”
“I don’t want her in a cell, and you know that.”
“This ain’t McDonald’s where you can walk in and place your order. She’s going into a cell with the other one.”
The voices faded and I stepped back from the door. A cool breeze suddenly flared through the room. I didn’t turn to look what caused it. My guess was that, that Amora woman was back. There was a heavy silence that hung in the room as I finally did turn and walked back to the chair. I looked around but couldn’t see Amora anywhere. As I sat down, I examined the state my dress was in. There was a lot of dried blood on the front of the dress. I curled my lips in disgust and started to wonder why nobody smelled me yet. I got up and walked to a huge painting. It was a little bit bigger than me, and double my with. The painting showed, what I guessed, was a scene from swan lake or so. There was a big white castle in the back, the sky was blue with a few lonely clouds on the horizon. In the front of the picture was a frozen lake with a couple skating together on it. I guessed that they were supposed to be dancing together. Something was written on the small castle gates. I leaned closer and squinted my eyes to try to read it as something touched my leg.
I shrieked and jumped away from the picture. As I was jumping back, I tripped, and fell on my butt. I stared in surprise at the black cat that was sitting in front of me now. It stared at me blankly before it turned ran to the chair. I looked around, bewildered.
“Where... ?”, I mumbled as the cat meowed in answer. I crawled over to it and examined it briefly. It had a little key attached to the red leather band around it’s neck. I slowly reached for the cat, and picked it up. It purred in response as I scratched it’s furry ear.
“Where did you come from?”, I cooed in a silly voice as I cuddled the little black animal. Amora suddenly appeared out of thin air. She raised an eyebrow at the cat I was holding, then frowned.
“Where did that cat come from?”, She questioned me.
“I didn’t leave this room! I was looking at the picture there,”, I pointed to the painting of the Swan Lake scene, “and the cat touched my leg. I don’t know where it came from. But look, it’s wearing a little key around it’s neck.”
“She’s immortal you know?”, Amora said, as she sat down a old trunk and smiled at me.
“She? I wasn’t sure if it was a He or a She... What’s her name?”
“She was Imperia’s cat. Her name is Ginevra. But Imperia always called her ‘Ginny’.”, She answered, looking around, at nothing in particular as her lips tugged up into a half smile.
“‘Ginny’? Oh, I almost forgot! What’s up with that mirror?”, I asked suspiciously.
“The mirror? What mirror?”
“This one.”, I said as I set Ginny on the ground in front of me and walked to the creepy mirror, and pulled the blanket off of it.
“Why, what happened?”
“I was standing in front of it, then all of a sudden, I saw my reflection in the mirror next to me, putting on make-up.”, I shuddered as I thought about it again.
“Ah... It’s enchanted.”, Amora replied as I watched her smile.
“Enchanted?”
“Yes, this was Imperia’s office after all. She was a very self-centered person. Who else would enchant a mirror to act on it’s own accord by making the reflections move on their own accord. Imperia always thought she was imprisoned here. So I guess she created the mirror to make part of her feel less imprisoned.”, She explained as she watched the mirror intently.
“She doesn’t seem self-centered.”, I said absent minded, petting Ginny.
“Why? Do you know her?”
“No, but I found this letter addressed to her brother. She didn’t seem to feel imprisoned, or self-centered.”, I answered as my stomach growled loudly.
“We’ll have to find something to eat for you. We’ll wait a while, then we’ll go and search for food, and a way to save the kingdom.”, She said nonchalantly.
“Save the kingdom? I don’t know who you think I am, but I’m obviously not the person you need to save the kingdom. You need someone brave, someone heroic.”
“And together we are that person. We only have to find my body.”
“Find your body? Where is it?”, I asked dumbfounded, I knew she was a ghost but she still had her body laying around here somewhere? Seriously?
“Odio, Batillus’ father, had me imprisoned in the highest tower here. I’m still alive though. The way I know him, he just waited for the day he could hurt me the most. Now that day is very close. After all, he has my son now.”
“Leviathan? But he can’t be your- WAIT A SECOND! You gave me this little speech about how you only knew as much as I know. I don’t know any of this!”
“We are the same. I thought you would realize that sooner. So practically, even though you don’t have the memories, you theoretically DO know as much as I do.”, She said as she looked at me, puzzled.
“So, we’re the same. When do we, you know, meet?”, I asked stupidly.
“As soon as you are near my body. Then we’ll be able to do some brave and heroic acts. But when that happens, you HAVE to listen to what I tell you.”, She said sternly. “We’ll go now.”
“Wait, what?”, I asked, fidgeting with the red leather band that came off of Ginny’s neck. I stuffed it into a side pocket of the dress as I couldn’t get it back on.
“We’ll leave now to do that. They already prepared the mass killing. It’s supposed to be held at the very edge of this island. Probably to dispose of the bodies faster afterwards.”, Amora said casually. “There’s a girl coming.”
“What?”, I asked in surprise as Amora walked to stand behind the door. A few seconds later, the door opened and Ashes ran in. She tripped and fell, but she gave me a murderous glare. I didn’t think about how she had gotten here, I only saw the bloody wooden bat in her hands. I grabbed a heavy metal clipboard as I saw her scrambling to get up. I whacked her over the head with it. She slumped back down and I lifted the clipboard back up.
“No!”, Amora ordered as she looked with a mixture of surprise and shock on her face.
“One more for good luck?”, I asked hopefully as she shook her head. “Anyways, I had to. She was probably going to kill me. She gave me that glare. I bet she was kidnaped with Austin! Those people were talking about it! Maybe she was just scared and wasn’t thinking straight.” I had to admit though, it WAS weird to meet her here, with a bloody bat. I pulled her into the room as Amora closed the door. I tied her up with some old satin curtains I found hanging above the secretary. Ginny meowed as she looked at me.
“You wanna come too?”, I gave Amora a questioning look as she sighed and took the cat. She disappeared with her and I started pacing the room after a while. I wanted to know where Amora was taking Ginny to. They had just disappeared.
“I’m back.”, Amora said cheerfully as she met my shocked gaze. “Don’t worry, I brought Ginny to the castle. She’ll be save there.” Amora winked at me happily as we walked out the door.
“How did you get to the castle down there?”, I asked, but wasn’t answered because she hushed me. We walked down the stairs and I suddenly felt warm all over. I reached for Amora. Then we heard the tale telling footsteps. Guards were dragging Leviathans half-unconscious body along as they spotted me. Then I saw Lace walk behind them. Austin stood at the door which led to the marble throne room. They both looked surprised as both called my name. I shuddered at the thought of how Lace could act so normal, seeing as how he had betrayed the king so much. I ran to Austin, hoping to be out of this place soon.
Forgotten were all the heroic plans Amora had for us, as I only wanted my normal life in that instant, as I ran to him. He pulled me in for a quick hug, before turning me around, and pulling my arms behind my back. I looked back at Amora for help, but she was gone. Why was he holding me like a hostage? He should help me...
The realization hit me as I saw Lace pass me, wearing shackles. Those voices. It was Austin, and I guess, Batillus or so. The whole time, they were talking about Lace...
They led us outside. I didn’t fight back as they led us out of the village, as Amora had said, to the very edge. They lined us up. And I saw Batillus stand next to what looked like an ancient guillotine. The blade glistened in the late afternoon sun as Batillus acknowledged our arrival.
“Dearest prisoners. And scum.”, He said. While he spat the latter part, he looked at a woman at the very end of the line. “You are ALL going to die here today. And thus, this day will also mark the day the Albos’ have taken over the entire Kingdom.”
I craned my neck to see the woman at the very end of the line. She was dirty and looked as though she was already dead. I saw a faint glimmer of resemblance between her and Amora.
The guards behind each of us kicked us into the back of our knees, to make us kneel before Batillus. Austin had switched places with a guard, probably so he could watch the whole spectacle from a better angle. I sighed and closed my eyes, not wanting to see what would happen next.
*Leviathan’s P.O.V.*
The guard behind me kicked the back of my knees, making me topple over. I was falling forward, but the guard grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back up into a kneeling position. With one hand on my shoulder, the guard grabbed my head with his free hand to pull it up. I then faced Batillus and Austin.
“Austin?”, I mumbled, as I registered the betrayal. They had betrayed my father... My Kingdom... Samantha...
“So, sorry to break up this cozy little family reunion-” Family reunion? “- But, we have to continue on with the plan... I suggest we let the oldest go first. Amora, if you may?” The words he uttered shocked me as guards dragged a old woman forth to the guillotine. She glanced into my direction once, her eyes seemed to search for something. She stopped walking and leaned down a bit. The guard with her leaned forward too to see what the hold-up was, then the old woman threw her shoulder up, it easily connected with the guards chin as he fell backwards. She then looked into my direction again, and I could swear I heard Samantha’s heartbeat quicken, and ran for the islands edge. She jumped.
Batillus roared orders as other guards ran to the unconscious guard to check on him. Then Samantha pushed her guard away and sprinted for the edge, diving off of it.
