.:Chapter 23:.

*Leviathan's P.O.V.*

I sighed loudly, causing my father to glance my way.

"You've come back? They took you to-", I held up my hand, signaling him to stop talking. Glancing around, I noticed the courtyard was filled with civilians and the royal guard. I turned back to my father, opening my mouth to speak as he approached me. I wasn't prepared for what he did next. He hugged me. Not in the awkward fashion, but in the bone-crushing fashion so often used in families. Though I didn't mind at all, I was surprised. He usually didn't display any sort of affection, not the fatherly type, since my mother's disappearance. 'And death', I added silently.

"I thought I wouldn't ever see you again...", My father whispered to me before he ended our public display of affection. I saw his eyes swim with what I presumed to be happy tears before he turned back to the crowd. "This was a day of horror, a day the Kingdom would rather forget. Today we lost many loved ones. We lost family and friends. Though we mustn't forget to be grateful for what we still have. We are alive. We are safe. The Kingdom is in a great state of mourning. But today, the Kingdom will stand proud and tall, as we rebuild it."

There was a long silence, before the masses erupted in cheers of approval. My father was approached by many. He listened intently to all their stories, offering each the support of a small group of soldiers to help rebuild what they had. He sent the servants to distribute the food from the castles' storage, before leading me inside into the drawing room.

"What happened?", He asked quietly, taking a seat.

"Batillus. He had help though. Austin betrayed us.", I told him. "They took Lace, too. We escaped with the help of two Albus slaves. They're currently in the servant quarters. Lace is in the village helping there."

"What about-", I shook my head before he could continue.

"The rest is dead. Though there was this woman. She had wings like none I've ever seen. And a voice, such a beautiful voice...", I was muttering the last few sentences, though my father wasn't listening.

"How can you be so calm? After what happened to your mother, I was enraged. I couldn't think straight.", He questioned, finally meeting my gaze.

"You were married to mother. I barely know this girl. She's nothing.", I replied, noting how cruel my voice must have sounded.

"She reminded me of your mother. They're so much alike. Were. They were so much alike.", My father whispered quietly.

"Well, I'm leaving.", I told him, turning to walk out the door before he could stop me. "I'm going to help the others."

My father didn't follow me, though I didn't doubt he would know where I was going. I raced to the stables, getting my horse. I mounted it, glanced back at the castle, and rode off. I could guess where she must have landed after she jumped off. Maybe she survived by some miracle. I would have to ask around in the surrounding villages, I would find her.

*Samantha's P.O.V.*

I opened my eyes slowly and was greeted with the night sky. A few clouds marred the beautiful picture of the stars and dark blue sky as the floated past the moon. I was lying on my back, the soft grass acting as a cushion underneath me. I felt a sense of déjà vu as I continued to stare up at the stars.
