.:Chapter 17:.
*Prince Leviathans P.O.V.*
They dragged me to the door, through which Lucerna had disappeared earlier. I craned my neck to see Batillus pulling Samantha's limp body after us. He had her hands, and with one swift motion, he threw her onto his shoulder. My feet barely moved as the guards carried me with them. I didn’t care how roughly they would treat me, or how roughly they will treat me, I was only concentrating on the faint heartbeat that meant more to me than my kingdom. My fathers face flashed before my eyes as he had to watch in shock as the Albus’s guards fought their way into the castle to take me. I still did not know how I could get back, or how my father and his royal guard could get here. It reminded me of the only other time the Albus’s had fought us.
We did not know if they had planned it or if it was a spur of the moment that had made it happen. It was the day my parents had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. It was one of my most treasured moments, and it was the last I had about my mother. It was a surprise to my mother that the solar eclipse had been on that day, she had said it must have been a gift from the gods. I can still see her and my father stand proudly next to each other on the big balcony, overlooking the kingdom as the villagers cheered for them. As the solar eclipse was at it’s peak, horrible screams filled the air and chilled our happiness.
My father and I ran to the very edge of the balcony to see what was happening and we jumped back as Odio, King of the Albus’s flew on to the balcony. He laughed cruelly as his army of guards attacked our people. My father unsheathed his sword and stood protectively in front of me and my mother. I was trying to help, tugging at the wooden sword that my father had carved for me one summer. I couldn’t get it out but, I remember being angry at my mother as she held me close to her, preventing me from helping. I know now, that being twelve years old with a wooden sword, I could not have helped any even if she would not have held me in place.
“What is this? What do you want, Odio?”, My father spat furiously.
“Lazarus, simply hand over your wife and we will leave this instant.”, Odio had said casually, as if he was buying a good. “You know she is one of ours.”
“She came here because she wished to, she will not leave!”, My father raged. “She is my wife, not your servant.”
“She may be your wife but, she is one of ours. She should never have made the mistake of marrying you, and giving birth to this bastard mix.”, He barked, staring at me furiously. My mother pressed me more tightly against her and stepped back as silent tears fell onto me.
“He is the heir of the throne, show some respect.”, My father shouted.
“Amora, come with me now.”, Odio demanded, stretching his hand out to her. I heard her whisper ‘No’ as he launched himself at us. In the same instant, my father plunged his sword into Odio’s shoulder. Odio roared in pain as he unsheathed his sword and swung it after my father. Burning forests around the village gave the scene a dramatic bloody red shimmer. They fought like demons, plunging after each other or dodging attacks. He swung his sword at my fathers ribs and I heard him gasp in pain. I finally swung out my wooden sword and ran from my mothers arms. My father was on his knees, holding his side as I jumped in front of him. I swung my wooden sword at Odio’s belly, hoping it would hurt him in some way. I stopped, realizing I was not causing him pain. I looked up at him as he swung his sword down on me.
