Nightstruck- Damirae one-shots (Damian and Raven)

wedding part 2

Damian's POV 

 Damian stood at the front of the alter wrestling with the neck of his jade green tie. He couldn't help but fidget with it, the tie and the black suit both felt like they were squeezing him. His suit impaired his mobility  and that made him an easy target, the thought did not sit well with him. The last time he had been this ill-prepared, Trigon's demons had attacked at a carnival, it was not a position he wanted to be in again. 

"You're squirming more than I am, it looks like you're about to get married" Dick whispered from the corner of his mouth.

"How am I suppose to be prepared for an attack when I can barely move my arms?" Damian shot back 

"There will be no attacks, the force field is working perfectly and I've told Wally to do a perimeter sweep every 20 minutes" Dick replied 

"He can't detach his lips from Jinx's long enough to do a perimeter sweep Grayson, I think you bet on the wrong horse" 

 "As if you are any better with Raven" Dick chuckled and teasingly said. Damian's cheeks warmed but he chose to not reply, instead he shot him a cold stare. 

"Might want to look forward groom, you're bride is about to arrive" Jaime whispered. 

True to his words the bridesmaids had just started walking down the aisle. The line started with bumblebee, followed by Jinx, Donna and finally Raven right before Kori herself. When Raven stepped around the corner Damian felt like he forgot how to breathe. His eyes widened and all thoughts of uncomfortable collars and surprise attacks left his mind. Garfield could have turned into a dinosaur and eaten Jaime at that moment and he wouldn't have noticed.  

Raven looked stunning in the floor length gown she was wearing. The midnight blue colour paired with her inky locks and amethyst eyes made her look like she had been molded from the night itself. The beading on the dress threw off sparks of light with her every movement, it looked like the stars themselves had been sewn into the dress. The ethereal midnight blue cloak attached to the dress drifted on its own wind like she had just landed. Her hair was up and away from her face for the first time, which brought more attention to her large eyes (expertly lined courtesy of Jinx) and high cheekbones. When Damian met her eyes, he could see she was blushing slightly at his appraisal. He also noticed that she couldn't stop sneaking glances at him as she walked down the aisle. Maybe the suit and tie weren't a bad idea after all. 

Even after she settled in her place next to Kori, Damian and Raven couldn't take their eyes off of each other. There were only half-paying attention to the ceremony that was happening besides them, and when Dick asked Damian for the rings, Damian's hands moved on autopilot, his gaze still on Raven. 

As the ceremony came to an end, they finally directed their attention to the soon-to-be new couple just as they had started reciting their vows. 

"Kori, from the moment you crashed on to Earth, you have set my life spinning. You taught me that we can be more than heroes, that there is a strength in having emotions. You changed my life and continue to do so everyday. I hope that I get the opportunity to cherish you for the rest of our lives. And whatever bad happens, I know it can't be that bad because I will have you at my side, defending my back as we take on criminals." 

"Dick, when I first came to this planet I did not think I would belong here. Earth was full of many strange things. But now I see, it is not the planet that makes Earth my home, it is you. You are my home. I have never been more grateful to my sister for staging a coup than I am today, standing in front of you." 

They stared at each other with such love in their eyes, as if they had spent their whole lives searching for something and finally found it. Their love was near tangible and the guests felt they could reach out and touch it if they tried. Bruce for once, had a content smile on his face as he watched his first son finally have the happiness he deserved. Beside him, Alfred was discreetly wiping the tear that had slipped out of his eye. They were both proud of the boy they had raised from childhood. Gone was the lost circus acrobat who questioned his place in the world and in his place was an awe-inspiring leader, a caring partner and an even better friend. 

The cheers of the guests could be heard from the main land when Kori and Dick sealed their union with a kiss, no one cheering louder than galfore. He and the Tamaraneans in the crowd raised their fists and shot starbolts into the sky just as Kori and Dick broke off their kiss, it was a a tradition in Tamaran to celebrate joyous occasions. 

"We thank you all for coming to celebrate our union, please join us for a feast and let us continue these festivities" Kori said as she lead the guests to the tables set up for dinner.  

As all the guests left the aisle, Damian strode to Raven who was lingering in the back waiting for him. "You. Look. Stunning"  He said punctuating each word with a kiss. It was a true test of restrain for him, to wait till the end of the event to reach for her. He couldn't help but touch her whenever she was near, the rightness of her in his arm always took him by surprise. It was something he craved when she wasn't near. 

"You don't look half bad yourself Wayne" Raven said toying with his green tie. "Now let's go eat before the food is gone between Garfield and Jaime's appetite" 

"Do you have a minute to spare to meet the father of your boyfriend?" Said Batman from behind them.
