Katara is 16 years old and she's from the southern Water tribe. She's a water bender and she has a brother named Sokka who is a non-bender. Katara was born in the southern Water tribe where she lived until she was 10, her Father Hakoda had moved to the earth kingdom. There Hakoda became addicted to gambling and drinking, one night Hakoda had put down their house as a bet and tired to cheat so one night when Hakoda was gambling at a different casino some gang members came to their house. Kya, Katara and Sokka's mother, tired to protect the kids from getting hurt but was tossed to the side. The Gaang members beat up Katara and Sokka then forced them to watch them kill their mother. After Kya's death Sokka and Katara were taken out of school and forced to go to counseling. They both despised their Father and Kya's death only made him worse. One day Hakoda finally noticed how broken his family was and tried to be better. It's took 10 months but Hakoda completely stopped gambling and drinking. He tired to build his relationship with his children again but nothing worked. Katara and Sokka only cared for each other and no one else. Katara and Sokka were sent back to school when Katara was 13 and Sokka was 14. At first they had no friends and didn't want any, they only trusted each other. But over time Sokka and Katara decided to open up and began making friends. When they both finally let people in they had tons of friends and where extremely popular. Katara and Sokka loved going to school but hated going home. They still hated their father for being the reason their mother died. They were constantly reminded of the horrible incident because Katara and Sokka both had matching scars on their left arms. When the Gang members were beating up Katara and Sokka they thought it would be funny to give them matching scars so they will always remember that their father is the reason this was all happening. Katara had become best friends with a guy named Haru, they had a strong friendship and he was the only other person besides her counselors that she told about her past. Just when Katara and Sokka started to be happy again, Hakoda thought it would be a good idea to move to republic city for a fresh start. Now the two water tribe siblings hated their father even more for taking away their new found happiness.

Okay this is the present:
Katara slowly opened her eyes to see her brother smiling at her. "Sokka are we there yet?" Katara asked. "Not yet sis but we are in the neighborhood so you should probably wake up." Katara groaned and sat up. She looked outside their car window and saw lots of buildings. Katara sighed and unlocked her phone. She checked all her notifications and smiled at all her friends saying they will miss her and that she should come for holidays and summer break. Sokka looked over at Katara. "Who you texting." "Just some friends from our old school." Katara said. They felt the car come to a stop and Hakoda turned around and faced his kids. "Okay kids we are here." They both groaned and got out the car. They grabbed their bags from the trunk and walked into the house. "This is pretty nice. Too nice. How could Hakoda afford this?" Katara thought to herself. Sokka and Katara don't call their father dad or even father, they call him by his first name. "How did you afford this place?! Your gambling again aren't you?!" Katara turned around to see Sokka pointing at Hakoda. "No Sokka I promise I'm not gambling again! What do I have to do to prove to you guys that I have learned my lesson?! You two are more important to me than a stupid game!" Katara walked next to Sokka. "You thought that game was worth more than me Sokka and Moms life just a couple years ago! We will NEVER trust you!" Katara yelled at her father. Hakoda looked at his feet. "I'm sorry. I don't know what else I can do! I made a little mistake I can't turn back time you kids are being unfair!" Hakoda yelled back. Katara and Sokka sarcastically laugh. "Did you hear that Katara? He thinks being the reason our MOTHER IS DEAD IS A LITTLE MISTAKE!" Katara laughed. "What an asshole!" The two siblings then grabbed their bags and walked upstairs to pick their rooms.

Katara woke up the next morning to her alarm going off. She groaned and sat up from her mattress, the moving truck with all their furniture wasn't supposed to come til 1pm. Katara grabbed her phone and checked all of her notifications. After she did that she went to get bathroom and took a shower. When Katara was brushing her teeth her phone started to ring. She ran over and was excited when she saw it was Haru calling her. She answered the Phone and put him on speaker. "Hey Haru!" Katara yelled happily. She could hear him laughing from the other line. "How you doing Katara?" Haru asked. "I'm doing okay, I have to go to school today. I can already feel that it's going to be horrible. I'm going to Avatar high ever herd of it?" Katara herd Haru gasp. "What? what is it?" Katara asked a little worried. "No way! Your so lucky and so unlucky at the same time!" Haru yelled. "Explain now!" Katara said while walking out of the bathroom and picking out her clothes. "Well your lucky because your going to meet the Avatar." Katara gasped. "Really? How do you know?!" Haru laughed. "Katara the high school your going to us literally called Avatar high." "Yeah but it's named after he Avatar." Katara said confused. "Well yeah but every Avatar also goes to Avatar high. And your going to go to school with him because I herd he's our age!" Katara smiled. "Wow I guess that's pretty cool! Anyways why am I also unlucky?" Haru sighed. "Because I herd that the Avatar is an asshole and almost all the students that go to that school are rich and spoiled." Katara laughed. "Oh I should be fine! I can deal with assholes, I live with one!" They both laughed. Katara finished getting dressed. "Okay I have to go I will call you either when it's lunch or after school." Katara said. "Okay bye." "Bye." Katara hung up and walked out of her room and down the stairs to see Sokka eating cereal. "Where's Hakoda?" Katara asked while grabbing a bowl and a spoon and sitting down next him. "He went to work. Whatever new job he got he's going to be there a lot so it will mostly be just us in the house!" Sokka said. Katara cheered. "Yes that's amazing!" They both laughed and got ready to leave. "Also Hakoda's new job got him a car so his old one is completely ours." Sokka said slightly happy. "He's gambling again isn't he?" Katara asked annoyed. "Probably yes." Both of the siblings sighed and hopped in the car. "Well good thing that was both have out licenses, if anything gets out of hand we can just escape together." Katara said while smiling at her brother. He smiled back and they drove to school.

Sokka parked the car and they both hopped out. "I herd everyone here is rich and snobby. I think I wanna stick with you today as much as possible." Katara whispered to Sokka as they walked closer to the school. "I agree let's stick together. I herd everyone here are assholes, even the Avatar." Katara looked around and noticed people where looking at them and whispering. "Do you think they know we are new students?" Katara asked her brother. Sokka looked around. "Yeah they are probably trying to make up some crazy back story for us so they have some drama to talk about." Katara laughed. "Yeah." They walked into the school and into the office where they stopped at the front desk. "Should we be polite? Or rude this year? You can pick." Katara whispered to her brother while smirking. "Let's try something new. Polite to adults rude to kids our age." Sokka whispered back as Katara smirked. "Oooo I like that one good job Sokka." Sokka playfully bowed making Katara laugh. "Hello I'm Katara and this is my brother sokka, we are the kids of Hakoda. Can we please have our schedules?" Katara asked politely. The lady smiled. "Oh course. Thank you for the manners not many kids these days have those. Here are your schedules." They both thanked the lady and started waking down the halls. "Okay so we have 4 classes together and 9 classes throughout the whole day... this is going to be an amazing year." Katara said sarcastically. "Hey at least we have lunch together." Sokka said trying to brighten the mood. Katara smiled and they walked to their homeroom.

They walked into the room to see a big group of teenagers by the back of the room. Looked like they were surrounding a person. People where laughing and sitting on the desks, they were also throwing paper airplanes around the room. Katara and Sokka looked at each other. "Whoever is in the center of that group of people we want to stay away from." Sokka said to his sister who nodded. "I was going to say the exact same thing." Katara looked around the room until she found a desk for 2 people and pulled Sokka there and they both sat down. "Hey look new kids!" They herd someone shout. Everyone turned around and faced the two water tribe siblings. There was silence for a couple of seconds until everyone ran over to them and circled them. They were asking a bunch of questions all at once. "What's your names?" "The girl is hot." Where are you from?" "Are you water benders?" "Can you skate board?" "What's your Snapchat?" "Is the boy single?" "Oooo I love the girls hair!" Katara and Sokka both felt over whelmed and just wanted to run out of the school and never come back. Katara leaned over to Sokka. "I thought we would get bullied not be popular." Katara whispered in Sokka's ear. "I know but don't let it fool you, remember they are all probably just fake people, with fake personalities." Sokka whispered back and Katara nodded. Everyone stopped talking when they herd whistle. Katara and Sokka noticed that all the students where moving out of the way almost as if they where making a path for someone too them. A tall muscular guy with blue tattoos dark hair and grey eyes walked up to them and stopped in front of them. "So you too are new here?"he asked they both nodded. "You don't need to be nervous around me. So give me your phones so I can get this over with I have things to do." Katara was annoyed with how conceited the guy was acting. She stood up. " 1 you do not make me nervous and 2 why would we give you our phones?" The boy laughed. "So you can take a picture with me of course. Now give me your phone like a said I have things to do." He tried to grab her phone but she moved her hand out the way. Katara laughed. "Why would I want to take a picture with a conceited asshole like you? Who do you think you are?" Katara yelled putting her hands on her hips. Everyone gasped. He laughed. "You actually don't know who I am? Have you been living under a rock? I am Avatar Aang. Now for being rude you don't get a picture." "I don't give two shits if your the Avatar! Who would ever want to take a picture with an asshole like you?!" Katara yelled and stormed out of the classroom. Sokka got up to chase Katara but Aang stood in front of him. "Better thank your friend because you don't get one either." Sokka pushed Aang out of the way. "Fuck you and your obsession with pictures." Sokka said then ran out of the classroom. A boy with a scar pulled Aang to the corner of the room. "What is it Zuko?" "Do you want to put the girl on the list?" Aang smirked. "Of course, but my personal one. Make sure everyone knows she's not on the public list. My personal one, if anyone else tries I will have the kyoshi warriors handle them for disobeying me." Zuko smirked and nodded.
