The entirety of Rani's throne room was silent with its main occupant sitting alone on the solid rock she called a throne. The brown Lioness was not exactly content with current things going in in her life. There were many things that were wrong right now. Sure, she had raised awareness to only one animal close to her, but what would happen if more were necessary? They would most likely not keep their mouths shut about their secret matters outside of the tree.
Oh boy.
This was a matter that Rani had to take seriously. She held her paw to her stomach as she felt the cub inside of her. This, coupled with the issue of her deception of Kion, was a thorn in her side that she wished that she could get rid of.
After dealing with the issue of Ullu, and deceiving her with great success, Rani knew what she had to do next. With the threat of her plan of keeping Kion with her being exposed, the brown Lioness knew exactly what it was that she had to do to silence this rabble. Ono was smarter than anyone could ever give him credit for, despite his permanently impaired sight. And now that he was getting Bunga to thinking this, there was more to worry about.
Wait a minute, what exactly was there to worry about with Bunga? He wasn't exactly the sharpest quill on the porcupine. What was there to be concerned about? She heard everything about his past from Kion. And now that she knew how he was, she suddenly got an idea.
Since he and Kion were tighter than a knot, she realized that she could use this to her advantage. She paced around inside her throne room, wondering how exactly she could accomplish this. She also hoped that outside, the two troublemakers were not going to her defacto king and sharing their concerns. "You have a problem, Rani." She muttered to herself. She was so involved on her pacing that she had not even thought about the prospect of someone visiting her at this time.
'You sure do.'
This new voice was something that had caught Rani off guard. She looked around to see if anyone else had entered the throne room of the great Tree. She saw no one. Could it have been one of the spirits of her deceased relatives? Her parents? Her Grandparents? But she did not recognize it as any of theirs, as she had spoken to them many times already in her time as Queen. She knew their voices very well. It was no one else she knew but herself.
'You really think this will solve your problems?' Her inner voice asked her.
"Yes, yes I do." Rani answered. "This is for the good of the Night Pride. And the Tree of Life."
'Lying to Kion, making him think you love him?' The voice came again. 'Doesn't sound like the best thing to do for your family. What do you think will happen when they find out?'
"They're not going to." Rani answered. "I'll make sure of it."
'Oh, are you? Lemme ask you this, uh, me. If they ever found out, what are you going to tell them?'
Rani looked around the room skeptically. "Um..." She then looked back up confidently. "I'll tell them it was for the greater good. They'll all understand. They will. I'm sure they will."
'We both have different views on what they'll understand. You know what, I think, and this is just a theory on my part mind you. I think that deep down, you know that what you're doing is wrong."
"Is that what you think?" Rani answered sarcastically. "Well I have news for you. What in doing is for the good of our kingdom, as I've already told you. And sometimes, for the good of the kingdom, you have to do what seems wrong at the time. Think about it. When Kion and his friends first came here, when the attacks first happened. Makucha, and then Binturong."
'What exactly are you implying?'
"When they assaulted the Tree of Life all those times, it was in the day. If it wasn't for Kion blasting them away, they would've killed everyone in the Kingdom. Don't you see? With Kion here, we have protection for both the day and night. And now that I have a cub on the way, he needs to stay with us more than before."
The inner voice was silent for a while. Rani felt as if she had won the argument. She smiled and started to head towards the exit.
'I don't think so.'
"Ugh, what is it now?"
'While I see that you have everyone's best interests in mind, not everything will go the way you think of you don't change how you're going about it. What you're doing could get yourself into serious trouble with the other animals and your family. And what about when your cub grows up, huh? What are you gonna tell him or her when the time comes?'
"I'll tell my cub that I did what I needed to do. It'll understand one day, I'm sure."
'Listen, this isn't going to go the way that you think. Need I remind you that Kion has the Roar?'
"Uh, yeah I do. So?"
'Don't you think that when he finds out, he might get a LITTLE mad? You've seen what happens to Kion's enemies. You've seen what happened to Mama binturong and her friends. If he ever finds out about your little scheme, he might even destroy the whole kingdom with his roar. Did you ever think about that?'
Rani scoffed. "Please, he wouldn't do that. That goes against everything he stands for, don't be ridiculous."
The inner voice seemed to sigh. 'Is that really what you think?'
"Yes it is."
'Well then, if that's the case, I don't know what to tell you. You seem really set on this little scheme of yours. I'm not entirely sure you know what you're getting yourself into. I guess if you're sure of this, then I guess I'm with you.'
"Good." Rani nodded triumphantly. "Glad to see you're on my side."
"Uh, Rani?"
Now what? Rani turned to where she had heard the second new voice. She saw her brother standing their at the entrance.
"Who're you talking to?"
Oh! Rani's Inner Voice talked to her! and Baliyo walks in asking her who she was talking to! Wow!
