To say that Ono was suspicious of Rani after seeing the weird look she gave was merely an understatement. There was some thing not right about it, and it had been eating at him for two days since the ceremony. Flapping his wings, he flew through the midday air and perched himself on the nearest branch of the nearest tree.

He scanned the area to see if he were alone. Although his eyesight would never be up to speed again, he could still pull a few tricks with his vision. In life, when one has lost something dear to them, the best thing they could ever do is learn to live with it. This was a philosophy that had seemed to help many an animal throughout the years.

And it was obvious that, in some ways, it was helping the Egret's case. He needed to figure out what exactly that look Rani made could mean. Having dealt with suspicious characters a handful of times before, he knew that look better than anyone. The pieces of this befuddling puzzle were beginning to come together. However, as sharp as his mind was, Ono still was at a loss as to what Rani could possibly be planning.

Why would she be planning anything? She was pregnant with her and Kion's cub. She would be a mother in a few months, and Kion would be a father. However, what kind of friend he be if he didn't take precautions?

"Whatcha looking at?"

Bunga suddenly popped out of the leaves and scared the bird half to death.

"Bunga, what're you doing here?!"

"This is my home now too, remember?" Bunga answered before sitting next to him. "So what're you doing out here by yourself?"

Ono glanced around to see if any of the other Night Pride members were around. "Um, just thinking."

Now Bunga may not have been the sharpest tool in the shed, but he knew when something was bothering his friends. "You don't look like you're just thinking. Ono, what's going on here?"

"Can you keep a secret?"

"Cross my heart, hope to die, shoot a Baobab to the sky!"

Ono rolled his eyes. "I think Rani might be up to something."

"Ooooh, she's been up to something alright." Bunga nudged his friend and winked at him.

"Bunga, this is serious." Ono shook him off. "I think that Rani might be manipulating Kion."

"What?" Bunga raised his eyebrow. "Pfft, come on, Ono. Why would she be doing that?"

"I don't know. But during the ceremony, she had this weird look. I don't know why, but I think she might have something planned for Kion."

"Listen Ono, Rani let us live here after we saved them from Binturong and her gang. There's no way she'd be planning against us!"

"Just the same," Ono answered. "I would appreciate it if you would just keep an eye out. Please?"

"Sure sure, Ono." Bunga put his paws on his hips as he stood up. "You can trust me."

What none of them knew, that right below them, Rani had listened to the whole thing. While Kion was taking a drink down by the watering hole, she had gone out on a stroll by herself. She had a lot of head clearing to do about a lot of things.

But now, she learned that everything she was currently planning was jeapordized by the nosy assumptions of a meddlesome bird!

She had to do something.

Oh! Ono may have found out her secret! but Rani overheard them! What is she going to do?
