With Baliyo now on Rani's side of the lying game, you can see how Ono was just a wee bit apprehensive. This only confirmed his beliefs of Rani's deception. And that was more than what I can say for Bunga. The Young adult Badger gasped silently as he watched a stern Baliyo disappear from sight. Being the best friend of the de-facto king, Bunga was not exactly happy to hear that his best friend had been lied to this whole time.
"Ono, y-you were right."
"Yeah... I was." Needless to say, Ono had even hoped that he was wrong in his suspicions. That was only for Kion's sake though. Within the tree before them was a Lioness who had lied to not only Kion, but to them as well. The whole former Lion Guard.
"Well, what do we do?" He asked the Badger.
"Wait, you're asking me?" Bunga asked incredulously.
"I don't know!" Ono almost yelled, but he almost forgot what was at stake now. Bunga covered his mouth swiftly, hoping that Rani didn't hear. Soon, their fears were realized as Rani slowly came out. They swiftly hid in some bushes as they watched her look around before striding out into the fields. Ono poked his head back out as he saw his disappear from view.
"Sorry about that, Bunga." The Egret sighed. "That was a close one, wasn't it? We almost got-"
Where did he go?
Bunga...
The Egret looked into the entrance of the tree and saw Bunga's figure disappear into the shadows. At first, he had been listening to Rani argue with herself. As if that was not enough evidence to incriminate her in their eyes, they had just heard the pregnant liar deceive her brother to her side, saying that Kion was the liar.
He flew after his friend frantically and found him rummaging around in some of the things Queen Janna left behind. "Bunga! What are you doing?"
"What does it look like, Ono?" Bunga looked through the many old things in the throne room. "I'm looking for something to smack Rani with!"
Ono shook his head and lowered the stick in his friend's hand. "Bunga, that won't be necessary. We're going to have to handle this with care. This is a very serious situation, and we don't want to cause more trouble than necessary." He began to pace the floor, his wing on his chin. As he paced, however, Bunga watched him move with a bored expression. Being a badger of few thoughts and a million actions, he was not exactly the keenest of mind among his group of friends.
Next to 'Zuka Zama', his other philosophy was 'act before you think', which told those who truly knew him a lot about his sort of character. And in this specific situation, he did not have any intention of approaching Rani carefully like Ono recommended. He had more than a few choice words for the pregnant Asiatic Lion.
The Honey Badger sat still reluctantly as he watched his long-time best friend think. Soon enough, he decided to speak up. "Uh, are we EVER gonna do something?"
"Give me a minute, Bunga!" Ono rubbed his temples with his feathers. Long had the bird been a logical type, but now, he was at a loss for words for what to do. Always the voice of reason, even after he lost his former vision, Ono was the kind of person who would give the best of advice for any good friend of his. He once stood in for a Tickbird for a near-sighted white Rhino. This required a good deal of patience, as guiding a Rhinoceros was not exactly like riding a bicycle, not that Ono knew what that was anyways.
"W-well..."
"Well?" Bunga questioned. "Well, what?"
"I think I have an idea here..." Ono cleared his throat. "It's a thought, really..."
"What is it?" Bunga sounded a little more urgent this time.
"Well, um... we could just try and reason with her."
...
...
"Excuse me, WHAT?!" Bunga exclaimed. "Ono, we can't just talk with her about this!"
"Well, what do you want me to do, huh?" Ono glared at him. "This isn't exactly the most normal everyday situation, you know!"
"But we're- uh, were- the Lion Guard!" Bunga jumped on top of a rock. "We've fought dozens of bad guys, and even fought Scar. SCAR, Ono! The biggest bad guy of them all. You've always had a plan to fight them back I the Pridelands. And you're having trouble trying to figure out a way to save our friend from a bad marriage?"
"Well if you haven't notice Bunga, this isn't the Pridelands!" Ono yelled. "We're in a completely different environment now! Things may have been simple before, but that's all in the past now. The best thing we can do for now is to just lay low until we come up with something."
"But by then, it might be too late." Bunga slightly calmed down. "Kion may already be more into Rani's lies than he already is. He'll be in a relationship where everything he has with her is a lie. What kind of friends would we be if we let that happen?"
"Bad friends."
The two of them were startled at the sound of this new voice. Though Bunga was less scared because, well, he's Bunga. They both turned to see the current Mjuzi of the Tree of Life, and their good friend, Makini, standing there. She had come from behind the hanging roots that acted as curtains for the throne room. She had grown so much since she had first set out from the Pridelands. Her hair had grown longer, and she had gotten taller.
"Makini!" Ono said alarmed. "W-we didn't know you were here!"
"How long were you back there for?" Bunga asked.
"Long enough." Makini nodded solemnly. "I heard everything. I know what Rani's been doing, and why she is doing it. While it seems like the right thing to do for her, it won't be so beneficial towards Kion. I fear it will corrupt him more than Ushari's bite ever did."
"So, what do we do?" Bunga asked. "We can't let this go on, can we?"
"No we can't, Bunga." Makini held her staff in her hand. "which is why we're going to do the only thing possible."
"And what's that?" Ono asked.
"We will tell Kion."
Oh! Plans are set into motion! What will happen to Rani's and Kion's relationship? Things are starting to get interesting! Keep reading to find out what happens!
