Geralt's POV:
Jaskier has been acting different lately. Well, more different than usual. He practically avoids the tea cabinet now, doesn't wear skirts anymore, and most nights I hear him struggling to stay quiet after a nightmare. He won't talk to me, it's like the first day I started talking to him. He won't tell me what's upsetting him and it's worrying me. I've tried voicing my concerns to Yennefer but she won't listen to me. As soon as I bring up Jaskier she gets in a mood and it's unhelpful and rude. I'm concerned for my friend and she seems to only care when the attention is on her.
"Geralt tell those two to shut up, they're being too loud." Yen's voice broke my worrisome thoughts of Jaskier and brought my attention to the two voices coming from the living room, a loud game of Mario Kart from the sound of it. I pulled myself out of bed and trudged down to the living room where my theory was correct, the two were playing Mario Kart and Jaskier was winning so far. I noticed that Ciri had made breakfast for everyone, the eggs still had steam coming off of them and there were two plates sitting by the sink, both belonging to the two in the living room. Jaskier's plate had some food left on it while Ciri's was entirely empty. That only made me worry more about Jas.
I left the kitchen and walked into the living room where the two had finished their race, Jaskier being the winner and Ciri being in second place. "I see you two were having some fun," I said tiredly, scaring both of them. "Just be sure to keep it down next time so Yen doesn't murder you." They both nodded and changed the screen to some cartoon I could care less for. I went back up to my room and decided to get dressed since there was no way I'd be getting back to sleep now. Yen was curled up in the blankets, sound asleep once more. I have a feeling today's gonna be a long day.
Jaskier's POV:
After Geralt went back to his room Ciri turned to me and gave me a shit eating grin that honestly scared me. "We should go out and do something!" She seemed like she already had a plan for where we should go and what we should do so I shrugged and leaned into her.
"What were you thinking of doing?" I asked softly, wondering what kind of thing she's already got planned for us.
"Ice cream, nature walk, roller rink, lunch, park and then movie night! We could wear matching outfits too and take cute pics! I know someone who'd be happy to see you in a dress~!" I hesitated for a second, not entirely ready to start wearing dresses again. Then I realized that I have Geralt's badass little sister with me so nobody would hurt me and if they tried she'd kick their ass. I nod and give her a small smile which made her get even more excited for this plan of hers.
"Show me the outfit you had in mind," I said, a little excited to see the outfit she planned. She hopped up off the couch and pulled me to her room where she had already set up the matching outfits. I couldn't deny that they were very adorable dresses. The pink dress matched Ciri's skin tone and hair perfectly while the blue dress matched my eyes. I felt confident that I'd be able to wear this dress without freaking out, or at least I hoped so. I noticed that Ciri had also found us both a pair of matching earrings and bracelets and shoes that matched each dress respectively. She handed me the blue dress and its accessories and then pushed me towards my own room to change. Once I finished getting dressed I grabbed a small bag and put in some stuff we might need for later- long socks for the roller skates, my meds, a small roll of bandages in case my recent injuries decide to reopen, and some cash. After my bag was all packed I fixed my hair, weaving small blue plastic flowers into my hair like a flower crown. I took one more look at myself in the mirror, grateful that I could at least do this again. I could finally look in the mirror wearing a dress and not breakdown or have a panic attack.
I stepped out of my room and nearly ran into Geralt who was dressed in some nice casual clothes, like he was going out for a walk. He looked at me and I felt as if maybe I celebrated my small victory too soon, maybe I wasn't ready for dresses again.
"Blue definitely makes your eyes pop. Did Ciri get this dress for you?" he asked. I nodded and he gave me a small smile, the kind of smile you'd only notice if you've been around him long enough to know it. That smile was enough to push the thoughts away and make me feel confident again. Before I could say anything, Ciri came out of her room with her hair in a braided crown, a few fake pink flowers woven into the braids. She looked like a princess with her hair like that and the dress she was wearing.
The walk from the house to the ice cream shop was a short one but it felt longer with so many people asking just where we got our dresses, complimenting our hair with the pretty flowers, children calling us princesses, ect. Ciri was the one to speak up during every interaction while I just kept my lips sealed. I didn't have anything important to say anyways so it was better that I was quiet. When we finally made it to the ice cream shop I was relieved. I only had to let Ciri tell the person what we wanted and then we could be on our nice little walk before the roller rink. That's when we encountered the first issue- the cashier. The tall brunette with hazel eyes and a bored look on his face was one of the people I had been avoiding since the incident. Nathan Greenwood looked exactly the same as he had six months ago in the hallways passing by me.
"Well if it isn't Cirilla and the fag. Can't believe you still hang around this whore, Ciri- Agh!" Ciri had punched him in the nose before he could continue insulting me and gave him a sharp glare.
"Talk about Jask that way again and I'll make sure you can't breathe without support. Got it?" Nathan nodded and gave us our ice cream, biting back anything else he had to say about me. We left the shop and made our way to the nice scenic path which would eventually lead us to the roller rink. It was silent for the first couple of minutes as we ate our ice cream and took in the pretty nature."Thank you," I said softly, slightly catching her off guard. She glanced over at me, wondering why I just thanked her and then realized it was about earlier.
"You know I've always got your back, Jas. You're my best friend and I'd protect you with my life. Anyone else that's fucked with you?" I snorted and finished off my ice cream cone, tossing the trash in a bin we had started to pass by.
"The whole school except you and Geralt. Nathan picked on me the most, though. His style was always verbal, never wanted to break a hand trying to beat the shit out of someone."
"So you're telling me there's more, then?" I nodded and sighed softly."There were four of them total but only one of them actually put his hands on me. Nathan was the easiest to ignore because he never hit or kicked me, it was all verbal. Dion, Mason and Colin were the physical ones. Dion stuck more to kicking me, tripping me, taunting me, etc. He never used his hands like Mason and Colin did. Mason stuck to punching me, pushing me,choked me a couple of times, shouted slurs at me. Colin was the worst, though. He was the leader and fuck he had anger issues. If it involved hurting me physically then he did it. Nothing was out of the question for him. Nothing."
When I was telling Ciri what happened to me all those months ago I left out his name, I don't exactly know why though. Now I could tell she was piecing together what I meant when I said nothing was out of the question for him. When she realized who took my spark, rage burned bright in her blue eyes and I could tell that if she ever got the chance to see Colin in person he probably wouldn't survive.
