I sat in my bed, surrounded by my siblings, feeling a mix of emotions. I had apologized for a mistake I didn't commit, solely to avoid embarrassing Alexa. Deep down, I longed for her love and acceptance, but it seemed like an impossible dream.

"All this time, she knew I was unhappy," I thought, tears welling up. "She knew they didn't treat me right, but she stayed silent. Is she really my twin?"

"Why am I here?" I asked aloud, seeking answers from no one in particular.

"You had an asthma attack, princess," Dylan replied, concern etched on his face. "And you didn't have your inhaler."

Colton leaned in. "Where's your inhaler, princess? You should always keep it with you."

I hesitated. "I actually forgot to bring it from Canada."

Lorenzo stepped forward. "No problem, I'll get you a new one."

He left the room and returned with an inhaler and discharge papers.

"Let's get you home," he said gently.

As we left the hospital, my emotions swirled. I felt grateful for my siblings' care but hurt by Alexa's betrayal.

Back home, they tucked me into bed, their gentle gestures a stark contrast to the turmoil inside me.

"Goodnight, Alesa," Dylan whispered, kissing my forehead.

"Sleep tight, princess," Colton added.

Lorenzo's kiss on my forehead lingered. "We're here for you, always."

Alex's gentle smile reassured me. "You're safe now."

Noah's whispered promise echoed in my mind. "We won't let anyone hurt you again."

As they left my room, I couldn't shake off the ache in my heart.

Why did Alexa stay silent all these years?

Would she ever truly love me?

Tears streamed down my face as I drifted off to sleep.

After settling Alesa in, we gathered in the living room. My eyes locked onto Alexa.

"Alexa, want to explain what happened?" I asked, my tone firm.

Alexa's nervousness was palpable.

"Uh, nothing much. Alesa asked me to tell you she wants to leave," she stammered.

I raised an eyebrow.

"Don't lie to me, Alexa. It's better for everyone."

Alexa's voice trembled.

"I-I'm not lying."

"Then why are you stuttering?" I pressed.

"I didn't stutter," she replied, unconvincingly.

"No lies, Alexa!" I thundered, my anger boiling over.

Alexa flinched.

"I'm sorry," she whispered.

"I want you to apologize to Alesa at breakfast," I demanded.

Alexa nodded.

"Am I clear?" My tone firm

Alexa flinched again.

"Yes," she stammered.

"Verbal answers, Alexa. Say it."

"Yes, I'm sorry," she apologized.

I sent her to her room, feeling conflicted.

I hated scaring Alexa, but her actions demanded accountability.

My mind seethed with rage.

That monster, John, and our so-called mother would pay.

How could they torture Alesa?

I vowed to make them suffer. They'd beg for mercy. Prison wouldn't protect them. I'd ensure their agony.

As I emerged from my slumber, I lingered in bed, savoring the tranquility of the morning. The gentle sunlight peeking through the curtains beckoned me to start my day. I tossed off the covers and walked to the window, where the crisp morning air enveloped me. The serene landscape outside was a perfect backdrop for my first morning in this new home.

Feeling refreshed, I headed to the washroom to begin my morning routine. The warm shower invigorated my senses, washing away any lingering sleepiness. I brushed my teeth, feeling the cool minty freshness, and dried my hair, watching it cascade down my back. Finally, I slipped into my clothes, ready to face the day ahead.

I descended to the dining area, where everyone awaited my arrival

I descended to the dining area, where everyone awaited my arrival. "Good morning, everyone," I greeted, receiving warm responses from all except Alexa.

Lorenzo's gentle nudge prompted Alexa to apologize. "I'm sorry, Alesa, for blaming and asking you to leave." Her words surprised me.

"It's alright, I forgive you. We're twins," I replied, and Alexa's smile hinted at reconciliation.

After breakfast, Lorenzo invited me to his office. "Don't worry, you're not in trouble," Noah reassured, eliciting chuckles.

Inside Lorenzo's office, he shut the door and asked me to sit on the couch. We faced each other, and his expression turned serious.

"Will you tell me about your bruises?" he asked gently.

I hesitated. "What bruises?"

"Your bruises and broken ribs," he repeated.

"How did you find out?" I asked nervously.

"I know everything, but I want to hear it from you," Lorenzo said.

Taking a deep breath, I revealed my painful past:

"In childhood, Mom and Dad loved me... until Alexa started fighting and blaming me. Mom and John didn't intervene. They sent Alexa to private school, and then... Mom beat me, and John... he raped me. Mom didn't care. He raped me every day. At school, everyone bullied me, saying my parents didn't love me. Teachers and students joined in. No one showed up for me, and I went hungry, beaten every day. My parents ruined my childhood."

Sobs racked my body as Lorenzo enveloped me in a comforting hug. I cried into his chest until I felt okay and pulled away.

"I promise, Alesa, from now on, you'll have a happy life with people loving and caring for you," he whispered.

"Promise?" I asked.

"Promise, Alesa," he reaffirmed.

We hugged, and I felt a sense of security.

"I want to take you somewhere," Lorenzo said.

I agreed, ready to face whatever came next.
