Vernon and Petunia Dursley, along with their son, Dudley, were the most dull and normal people in the world. They were so normal, in fact, that they despised anything that wasn't. This was especially true when they found two baby boys, one of which had a lightning-bolt shaped scar over his right eye, wrapped in blankets on their doorstep.
Those two boys were Y/N and Harry Potter.

"Up! Get up!" yelled a tall, skinny woman with a long neck into a small vent on the door of the cupboard under the stairs in which Y/N and Harry Potter shared a mattress to sleep on.
"Yes, Aunt Petunia," said Y/N and Harry in unison. Y/N was a taller boy for his age, but equally skinny. He had Y/E/C (your eye color) eyes, Y/H/C (your hair color) hair, and a lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead above his right eye. He hated his appearance aside from the scar. He was told by Aunt Petunia that he got it when he was in the car crash that killed his parents. Harry, meanwhile, had black hair, green eyes, was slightly shorter than Y/N, and had circular glasses. Harry, though he wouldn't admit it, was always jealous of his brother's scar. He secretly wanted one for himself. Something that both of the boys had was something that they couldn't explain. Whenever they were in trouble or when they were scared, whatever they were scared of would be solved. Once, when Dudley and his gang were playing 'Potter Poachers' at school, Y/N and Harry found themselves on the school roof while running.
Y/N and Harry were twins. Y/N was the older of the two by 7 minutes. He made sure that Harry knew that every chance he got to tell him.
Y/N and Harry's cousin, Dudley, a short, round boy with blonde hair and an undying lust to make the twins suffer as much as possible, was always racing up and down the stairs in an attempt to cover the twins in sawdust and spiderwebs. The twins were used to this, but that didn't make it better. This morning was no different. Dudley went down the stairs, up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs. When Harry and Y/N were exiting the cupboard, Dudley ran down the stairs and pushed them back in before slamming the door in their faces.
When the twins finally made it out of the cupboard, they made their way to the kitchen to cook breakfast for the Dursleys. Y/N was sure that the only reason that the Dursleys kept the twins around was to make them do work. As they reached the door, Y/N stopped Harry.
"It's Dudley's birthday!" Y/N whisper-shouted. "We've got to go to Mrs. Figg's house again."
Harry groaned at the thought of looking at their neighbor's cat photos for hours. Y/N wouldn't mind looking at the cats so much if he hadn't memorized every detail of the pictures after seeing them so often. Harry pushed through the door just as Vernon Dursley, a man who looked exactly like Dudley would when he was 40, was going to yell for the boys.
Y/N made a beeline for the stove before Aunt Petunia could bark at Harry to do it. Harry always burnt the food when he cooked and always was punished for it. Then, Y/N would have to do it anyway.
Petunia looked frustrated that Y/N had thought to save Harry a punishment, but didn't say anything. Instead, she walked straight over to Dudley to congratulate him on turning a year older.
Dudley ignored her and was counting his presents.
"Thirty-six..." Dudley's face fell. "That's two less than last year."
"Thirty-seven, Diddykins. You've forgotten to count the one under the tree from Aunt Marge," Aunt Petunia corrected.
"Alright, thirty-seven. I still had more last year," Dudley's temper began to rise. Y/N and Harry both sensed this and backed away with their food in their hands. Dudley was going to blow at any moment.
Aunt Petunia sensed this too, and tried to calm him down.
"When we're out, we'll buy you two new presents. How's that sound, Bopkin?"
Dudley considered this for a moment before nodding and beginning to eat. Y/N and Harry felt it was safe to put their food back on the table and did so.
Just then, the phone rang. Aunt Petunia went over to it and picked it up. She talked for a little bit before hanging up and walking back.
"Bad news, Vernon," Aunt Petunia sighed.
"What is it?" Uncle Vernon asked.
"Mrs. Figg's gotten a broken leg, she can't take them."
Dudley's jaw dropped, but the twins' hearts raced. This was the first time they wouldn't be going to Mrs. Figg's house in their ten years of life. They would finally be going somewhere fun! The zoo!
"Phone Marge," Uncle Vernon said. The twins' lost their excitement.
"She won't take them, she hates the boys," Aunt Petunia complained. The twins' excitement returned.
"Fine, we'll take them," Uncle Vernon concluded. Y/N had to stop himself from jumping around the room in happiness.
Y/N and Harry made their way outside to the Dursleys' car after Dudley and their aunt and uncle. Uncle Vernon pulled the twins aside before they could hop in.
"I'm warning you two - any funny business, any at all - and you'll be in that cupboard from now until Christmas," Uncle Vernon scolded.
"I can't make any promises," Y/N said. Uncle Vernon scowled. Y/N had a habit of being smart at the worst times. Harry merely nodded.
There wouldn't have been enough room in the back seat if the twins hadn't been so skinny. Dudley and his friend, Piers, took up two of the seats, so the twins had to squeeze together in one.
As they pulled into the zoo's parking lot, Y/N's eyes were locked on the entrance. He was finally somewhere were he could have some fun. He and Harry hopped out of the car as soon as they arrived and stared at the gates, imagining how much fun they were going to have inside.
The twins, Piers, and the Dursleys walked around the zoo for awhile, finally coming to the reptile house. Y/N was walking around when he heard everyone scream. He turned around and saw Harry on the ground, a snake on the ground, and a frightened Dudley locked in the snake's cage. Y/N swore he heard the snake hiss "Thanksss." as it slithered past Harry.
The Dursleys were apologized to heavily by the zoo's staff before they left. When they got home, Uncle Vernon grabbed Harry and Y/N by the ears and dragged them next to the cupboard.
"Explain," Uncle Vernon spat.
"I don't know what happened!" Harry yelled. "It was like magic!"
Y/N saw his uncle go purple as though struggling to breathe. Uncle Vernon threw the boys into their cupboard at such speed that Y/N was surprised he hadn't gotten whiplash.
"There's no such thing as magic!" fumed Vernon as he locked the cupboard's door.
