Y/N thought that time could go no slower. Weeks passed before Y/N and Harry were released from their prison under the stairs. When they were let out, summer had already begun. Harry and Y/N made their way grudgingly to the kitchen. As they sat, they heard the mail slot flip open and shut again.
"Dudley, go get the mail," Uncle Vernon said.
"Make Y/N and Harry get it," demanded Dudley.
"Y/N and Harry, go get the mail."
"Make Dudley get it," Y/N tried. This made Dudley attempt to hit him, but Y/N was too fast. He dodged Dudley's fist and left the kitchen to grab the mail. Harry followed closely behind, not wanting to be Dudley's next target.
Y/N picked up the mail and went through it. A bill was first, a letter from Aunt Marge was next (who wasn't really their aunt, but they had to pretend or suffer the consequences), after that was a letter for Y/N, and - a letter for Y/N?!
Y/N stopped dead in the hall, rereading the front of the letter. Harry shifted Y/N's hands so he could see too. Harry grabbed all of the mail except for Y/N's letter and searched for a letter for himself. He found a letter identical to Y/N's but with Harry's name on it.
The twins walked slowly into the kitchen, still not believing they had letters for themselves. Harry handed Uncle Vernon the bill and the letter from Aunt Marge before sitting down next to Y/N.
"Dad! Look! Harry and Y/N have got letters!" Dudley blurted. Uncle Vernon looked up as Dudley stole the letters from the twins.
"Hey! Those are ours!" Y/N complained. Vernon stole the letters from Dudley as he began to open Harry's.
"Please," scoffed Uncle Vernon. "Who would be writing to you?"
Vernon flipped over the letters to look at the seal. It was a red wax seal with some sort of crest on it. Vernon nearly choked on his toast. He looked at Petunia with concern and she gave him the same look back.
"Out, all of you," Vernon commanded. Dudley and Harry complied, but Y/N stayed put
"I want my letter," Y/N said.
"I told you to get out!"
"I want my-" Y/N started. He was chased out of the room by a furious-looking Aunt Petunia. When he was out, Petunia slammed the door shut and locked it. The three boys wrestled each other to get the best hearing spot, the keyhole. Dudley won because of his weight, and Harry and Y/N were stuck with listening uncomfortably through the crack in the bottom of the door.
"Vernon," Aunt Petunia stammered. "look at the address, how can they possibly know where they sleep?"
"They're spying on us," Uncle Vernon muttered.
"What should we do? Do we write back? Tell them they won't be going?"
Y/N saw Uncle Vernon pacing.
"No, we'll simply ignore it. Yes, I think that's best..."
"But-"
"I will not have two in this house, Petunia! One is even too many! Didn't we swear when we took them in that we'd put a stop to this nonsense?"
Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia stopped talking. Harry and Y/N went back to their cupboard while Dudley went to his room.

When Uncle Vernon got home from work, he did something he had never done before and would never do again. He visited the twins in their cupboard.
