On the morning of September first, Y/N was up well before dawn, but was so excited to go to Hogwarts that he couldn't get back to sleep. So, to make time pass a little quicker, he pulled out one of his books and began reading. The book he happened to pull out was Hogwarts, A History.
When Y/N had left off, he was around the halfway point of the book. He had been reading all day every day since Harry and himself returned from Diagon Alley. The Dursleys liked it better this way, it meant that he wouldn't bother them as much. Harry brought him food whenever a meal was over. Most of the time he didn't touch it, because he didn't want to get his books dirty.
When he wasn't reading, Y/N was laying down and imagining what Hogwarts would be like. He often thought about learning how to turn Dudley into a pig and complete whatever Hagrid did back in the shack on the rock.
Dudley had gotten his tail removed a few weeks after the Dursleys returned to their house. The surgeons were confused beyond measure about how Dudley ended up with the tail, but the Dursleys refused to say. The Dursleys pretty much made any word that had anything to do with magic or the Wizarding World a swear word. If either of the twins said anything pertaining to school or magic, they were heavily reprimanded.
Harry's owl, Hedwig, was locked in her cage. She definitely wasn't expecting to be locked up for a month after being bought.Y/N's cat, Poppit, was not happy with being stuck in the twins' room. He wanted to run around the house and play, but the Dursleys wouldn't allow it. In their eyes, even a cat was too close to the magical world to be let out of the twins' bedroom.
Poppit hopped up onto Y/N's lap and pawed at his book. Y/N put it down to give Poppit attention. He rubbed Poppit behind its ear and he purred loudly. So loudly, in fact, that it woke Harry up. Harry wasn't a deep sleeper anyway, so it didn't take much, but Poppit was still loud.
"Can you make that cat be a little quieter?" Harry asked groggily.
"Harry, he's a cat. I can't control him," Y/N said. "Isn't that right, Poppit?"
Poppit meowed in response.

When everyone woke up and ate, the Dursleys and the Potters left for London.
They pulled into the King's Cross station parking lot.
"What platform did you say it was?" Vernon asked.
"Platform nine and three-quarters," Harry answered. Vernon laughed an evil laugh and got out of the the car. He told Aunt Petunia and Dudley to wait inside while the twins got out.
They walked into the station and up to platforms nine and ten.
"Well, here you are," said Vernon a little too cheerfully. "Platforms nine and ten. Now, where's your platform? Oh! It seems they haven't built it yet. Ta ta!"
And Uncle Vernon left the boys and their things in the station. Y/N and Harry walked around, looking for anything that said 'Platform 9 3/4 right here! Muggles stay away! Wizards and witches only!'
When they couldn't find anything, they asked a station master where they could find it. It was a stupid idea.
"Platform nine and three-quarters? You think you're funny?" the station master said. Harry laughed at Y/N's idea.
"Shut up," Y/N punched Harry's arm playfully.
Just then, Y/N heard a woman talking.
