"Halstead," Platt called out, grabbing Harley and Jay's attention, "Sorry, Harley. You're wanted at a meeting down at headquarters."

"For what?"

"All they mentioned was something about potential retraining. I'd change to a pantsuit if I were you."

"Alright thanks Platt."

Now slightly irritated, Harley headed into the locker room to change, suddenly grateful she also kept a professional outfit in there in case of something. After changing she bid farewell to to the unit and took off. Once she arrived the receptionist sent her to a room full of other detectives. She plopped down in the back as the commissioner talked about better trauma training for officers and detectives. Harley managed to sneak her phone on her leg to text Jay.

Hubby: How's the meeting?

Harley: I want to stab everyone. This commissioner is talking about better trauma training and she doesn't even know what real trauma is like.

Hubby: Well just don't get blood on yourself. We have reservations at seven at Molly's since the kids are with Matt and Gabby  ;)

Harley: Love you for enabling me.

Hubby: Love you too.

Harley slipped her phone back in her pocket before paying attention again. She was starting to lose interest once again when her name was mentioned.

"Detective Harley Halstead with you stand and approach please," requested the commissioner.

"Yes ma'am," she obeyed, curiously walking to the front of the room.

"Officers and detectives, this is Detective Harley Halstead who we are newly promoting to Detective 1st grade. Congratulations detective."

"Thank you commissioner."

"Everyone is dismissed," she stated and as Harley went to leave with everyone else, the commissioner stopped her, "Detective I'd like to speak with you for a moment if that okay."

"Yes. How can I help you?"

"The reason we requested your presence for this meeting besides the promotion was that I wanted to propose an offer to you," she paused, "We want to start a better training program when it comes to teaching officers and detectives how to speak with and treat trauma victims. I don't mean for this to come off crass, but knowing the trauma you've been through yourself and witnessing how well you are with trauma victims we want you to teach the class."

"I'm truly honor but-"

"Before you decline, we know you have a family and that your detective work comes first. It'd only be an hour two days a week before your shift at the 21st begins. It also comes with extra pay. Take some time to think it over. I can give you a couple days to decide."

"Thank you commissioner. I'll talk it over with my husband and get back to you."

With that Harley headed back to the district, kinda giddy. Not only had she gotten an promotion to the highest detective rank, she also was offered a job teaching something she was passionate about. When she got to the district everyone was curious as to what happened, so she told them.

"Congratulation of the promotion. That's amazing," Kim smiled.

"Congrats kid. It'll be grade to have you as a lead detective in Intelligence. You're more than qualified," Hank complimented.

"Thanks Serg. The commissioner also offered me a job training academy students and some current officers how to properly treat and handle trauma victims. She said I have a lot of experience with trauma and she's soon how great I am with those victims," Harley explained, "It wouldn't take any time away from the unit, I'd teach two days a week for an hour before going into work."

"Did you take it?" asked Jay.

"I said I needed to talk to my husband about it first because of our family, but I think I want to take it."

"Do it."

"Really?"

"Yeah! You'd be great for shaping future cops and we need more cops like you. I can handle getting the kids ready in the morning and off to daycare by myself two days a week. Take it!"

"Thank you. I love you." Harley smiled, pressing a kiss to Jay's lips.

Everyone congratulated her again before they got back to catching up on the paperwork backlog. Harley called the commissioner to accept the position, feeling extremely excited.  She knew this is something she would be great at.

Two weeks later

Harley was loving her training job, but it was definitely exhausting. She trudged into work after class with an extra large coffee in her hand and sunglasses on. Kim was the first to pick up on her behavior.

"So uh how's the new job going?" Kim asked, raising an eyebrow at Harley.

"It's honestly great getting to teach this, but the content is definitely a little mentally taxing especially when sharing person experience. But that's not totally the reason for me looking like crap," chuckled Harley, pausing to sip her coffee, "Ashton was not sleeping last night since he's got a stuffy nose and he's teething which meant I was up pretty much all night. Then this morning Jay spilled half my breast milk for daycare today, so I had to pump real quick before class. To top it all off when I went to put creamer in my coffee this morning, in my tired daze instead of grabbing the creamer bottle, I grabbed the half bottle of breast milk. So now I've got breast milk coffee."

"Gross," Adam commented with a look of disgust on his face.

"Eh. A little breast milk never hurt anybody. It doesn't taste bad since it's still sweet. But let's get these day going."

That night Harley was tucking in Skylar for the night and reading her a story. Skye's gaze never left her mom as she hung on her every word. When the book ended, she let out a big yawn.

"Mama?"

"Yeah baby girl?"

"You're the best mama. I love you."

"Awe thanks sweetheart. Mama loves you too, so so much."

Skye leaned over and pressed a kiss to Harley lips before cuddling under her blankets. With a smile Harley headed to her bedroom where Jay was already turning on the tv and climbing into bed.

"What's with the grin?" he asked with a chuckle as Harley climbed into bed beside him.

"Skylar just reminded me how much I love being a mom. We're doing pretty damn good with those kids Jay. Pretty damn good."
