"You're back!" announces Trudy as Harley and Jay walked into the district.
"That we are" smiled Jay.
"So Harley, your new ID badge came in with the new last name along with your vest" she informed them.
"Awesome! Thanks Platt" grinned Harley.
"Of course Detective Halstead".
Harley and Jay headed upstairs to be greeted by their friends. Hugs were shared before everyone started asking about the honeymoon.
"It was a blast" commented Jay.
"And bringing Skylar was definitely a good idea" added Harley.
"Those pictures of her at the beach were adorable" gushed Kim.
"She was so well behaved. Plus it was nice to just have a few days to spend with my family," Jay admitted, pressing a kiss to the side of Harley's head, "I'm going to go check in with Voight."
"Okay babe."
"How was everything back here?" She asked Kim, setting her bag down next to her desk.
"Good. Caught a case or two while you were gone. Voight pulled a little stunt, so now the commander has his eye on us. Today he's decided we're staying at the station to catch up on paperwork."
"If I wasn't here then what the hell am I supposed to do?"
"Update CI information and that kind of crap. It's basically a wash day."
"Not anymore," interrupted Voight, having overheard their conversation, "Commander and I worked out a little deal. We just caught a sex trafficking and drug case."
"What do we know?" asked Upton, crossing her arms.
"We have ODs off of the drugs he's selling, two dead girls both murdered, and we have a picture of one of the main guys right hand men," Voight stated, filling out the whiteboard and taping up pictures as he went," We have the victims IDs, but not the scumbag's. We need to find these guys, and fast before Med keeps filling with ODs."
As Voight stepped away from the whiteboard, Harley froze. She couldn't believe what she was looking at. She slowly took a few steps forward, eyes locks on the suspects photo. She knew everybody was staring at her, waiting for her to speak. But she couldn't.
"Harley, what is it?" asked Upton.
Jay had his eyes trained on her, trying to understand what his wife was thinking.
"I know the suspect," she said flatly, raising everyone's eyebrows, "His name is Dante, Dante Gomez. He does all the big work for the main guy."
"You know that for a fact?" asked Voight.
"I could never forget his face. He ran the trafficking ring my unit tried to infiltrate in New York. He treated his girls like shit, beat them for no reason, randomly come in to rape them, and he always made sure that if you made one slip up, he'd take you out without batting an eye," Harley explained, not looking any of them in the face, "We ended up only getting one of the smaller guys and then the rest of them went off the grid. They just have moved down to Chicago."
Everyone let in sink in that there was only one way their coworker knew all this. It's what she experienced. Jay knew this was going to be a hard case. Even worse, he knew that his wife was going to have to suffer through remembering all the details of a past event she so desperately wanted to forget.
"Okay. Atwater, Ruzek, I want you to dig up whatever you can on this Dante Gomez guy. Antonio and Burgess, call up NYPD SVU, get Lieutenant Benson on the phone and get those past case details. Halstead, go to Med and get information about all the victims," ordered Voight before turning towards her, "Harley and Upton, you guys can talk in the break room. I want to know everything we possible can about these guys and this ring."
