It was night when they arrived in New York. Harley was finally relaxed, she had found a place for Rebecca and had solidified her relationship with Jay.
"I can't believe that Dawson really wanted to adopt a kid," admitted Harley as Jay continued to drive.
"Gabby and Matt just got married, lost Louie. As soon as Erin mentioned it to the girls Gabby probably jumped all over the chance," explained Jay.
"It's nice. I trust them and I know they'll love her. Plus I can still see her. I just wasn't ready."
"Babe, you don't have to explain it to me. I get it. Why don't we stop and take a rest at a hotel. We'll get up early in the morning and pick up Becca from the station."
"That's a good idea."
Jay drove for another ten minutes before finding a decent hotel in Manhattan. They headed inside the building, Jay paying for the room. Harley tried to protest but she knew he wouldn't give in, plus she was tired. The two headed upstairs, Jay unlocking the door. Harley immediately shed her clothes, leaving her in a bra and underwear. Jay stripped down to his boxers, placing both of that guns and badges on the nightstand. They both climbed into bed, Jay pulling her clothes. She couldn't into him, emotionally exhausted. She felt his lips next to her ear, causing her to shiver.
"I'm here. No one's gonna hurt you, get some rest."
The next morning Harley woke up to Jay's soft snoring. She woke him up with a kiss on the lips. His eyes fluttered open as she moved to stradle him. He let out a groan into her mouth. She pulled back and let out a giggle. He hair hung over her head as she looked down at Jay. He tucked her hair behind her ears, smiling.
"Good morning baby," cooed Harley.
"Good morning to you too beautiful," greeted Jay in a husky voice.
"We better get to the station. By the time we pick her up, eat, and drove home we won't hit Chicago till tonight."
"You're right. But if you want me to get up you're gonna have to get off of me."
Harley just laughed as she climbed off him, her feet hitting the floor. Jay loved her laugh it was so light and innocent. Her smile was what got him though, he feel for it every time. He had known the girl a little in the past and had been dating her for two days now, but he couldn't believe the way he felt about her. She pulled the jeans, boots, and shirt back on before putting on her gun and badge. Harley slipped on her leather jacket, her hands now on her hips. Jay had lost focus, watching her.
"Earth to Jay," called Harley, smiling.
"Sorry," mumbled Jay as he climbed out of bed, getting dressed.
10 minutes later the two of them checked out of the hotel. Harley jumped in the driver's seat because Jay was driving the whole way home. As she pulled out of the parking lot Jay gave her knee a squeeze. Then he slowly began trailing his fingers up her thigh.
"Jay..." lightly warned Harley, trying to keep her focus on the road.
He ignored her, drawing patterns on her skin through a ripped hole in the jeans. Suddenly she felt a warm breathe on her ear. She tried to stay focussed as Jay grinned.
"Wait till we got home. I have a surprise for you," whispered Jay as he placed his hand on her inner thigh.
It was just then that Harley pulled into the parking lot of Manhattan SVU. Harley shut off the car, leaning over a kissing Jay roughly. It was her turn to tease him. She put her mouth near his ear after kissing up his neck.
"Two can play that game... Detective."
That set him off. He loved it when she called him detective. She knew she had turned him on, so she climbed out of the car, pleased. Just followed behind her as the walked up the steps, inside the building. Once they reached the bullpen, Harley was greeted by everyone.
