Knox POV
The sun shone on my face waking me up. When i opened my eyes i was in the familiar room of Owen Matthews but i was alone. I looked over at the alarm clock to see it was two in the afternoon. A loud groan came from me as i rolled over burying my face into the pillow holding my head from the worst fucking headache i've ever had.
I can't even remember what happened last night, all i do remember is turning up at Gina's house then getting high and drunk. Everything is a massive blur like i passed out or something. If i'm here i must have called Owen and he came and got me from the house for whatever reason. The door opened making me look up to see Tristan stood there. He laughed at me making me groan again from the pain i was feeling in my head.
"Will you be quiet?" I glared at him through semi blurry eyes.
"Bro have you seen yourself? You look like shit." He laughed. "Here's some ibuprofen and water for the headache."
"Where's Owen?" I sat up taking the pills and water from him and taking them.
"Downstairs. He didn't want to wake you up by watching tv in here so he's sat downstairs with Nikah and Alaric while Oaks is at a friends and the parents are at work." Tristan told me. I nodded and he left as i groaned again and downed the water in my hand.
I got up and went into the bathroom, showered then got out and changed into some clothes. By that i mean pyjamas because this bitch isn't leaving this house until later. When i got downstairs Owen was curled up in the sofa reading while Alaric and Nikah watched whatever nine year olds watch.
"Good afternoon lazy butt." Nikah giggled at me.
"Good afternoon Nikah. And i am lazy, so observant." I chuckled at her. She rolled her eyes and went back to watching tv. I sat down next to Owen and pulled his feet on to my lap where he moved a little to get comfortable. "Are you ignoring me?" I asked him.
"Nope just r-reading." He said without taking his eyes from the book.
"What happened last night?" I took the book from him so he would talk to me. I folded the corner of the page so he wouldn't shout at me for losing it.
"You called m-me to come and p-pick you up so i did. I-I was going t-to take you home but then you d-demanded that i b-bring you here instead. You changed into s-some pyjamas then p-passed out." Owen told me.
I nodded waiting to see if he would talk to me more, but no i got a, "Can i have my book back now?"
"Nope, you can talk to me." I pulled him by his hand so he had his feet on my lap and him cuddled up to my side where i laid my head on his. "Want to go to the cinema with me tonight? I'll buy you proper dinner this time instead of a bunch of sweets." I mumbled.
"Not t-tonight Knox. Tonight i j-just want to stay h-home and that's it." He sighed a little.
"Come stay at mine then. I'll make you dinner and we'll watch bunch of films together. And i will sit through Insidious with you." I stated knowing that it is Owen's favourite horror film.
"Okay then. I w-want to t-talk to your mum a-anyway." He shrugged.
"Really? What about?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"N-not much. But i-it's to do w-with your birthday." He stated.
"Why don't i believe you?" I chuckled lightly.
"D-do o-or don't. B-but that's what its a-about." Owen rolled his eyes. ---------
After a couple hours at Owen's, he packed a bag of his things to stay at my house with. Before we left Nevah gave me another ibuprofen for my headache then we left. Once we got to my house, it was quiet so i knew my mum was still asleep for her shift tonight, she's a nurse at the hospital and works hard. My dad on the other hand left before i was born, he didn't want to be tied down with a kid and one woman for the rest of his life.
Out of all my friends there is only one person that knows about that, and it's Owen. Not even Gina knows and she's my girlfriend of nearly two years. Owen and i went up to my room where we put on The Mask with Jim Carrey to pass the time before i make dinner for us. Not to brag but i'm quite the chef.
"What are you getting me for my birthday?" I asked Owen with a playful smile. Each year i tell him not to get me anything yet he insists, there has only been one year since we've known each other where he hasn't got me anything.
"I-I'm not sure y-yet. That's why i h-have to talk to your m-mum." He replied. I nodded and turned back to the tv.
"If you can't figure something out then don't bother. You don't have to get me anything it's okay, i won't hold it against you." I chuckled.
"You say that every y-year and i say t-the same t-thing. I-I have an idea, i just n-need to make sure m-me and y-your mum don't get the same thing." Owen shrugged. Once again i nodded and moved to lay down. I placed my head in Owen's lap where he started playing with my hair that i absolutely love. Other than my mum i don't let anyone else do this to me.
With Owen playing with my hair and the quiet hum of the tv, my eyes drooped and i fell asleep.
