I looked at Autumn, and she looked at me.

" I'm.. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you sad." She whispered.

" It's fine. These wolves are my family now anyways." I said, gazing at the forest. I could smell their scent; they were nearby, watching us.

I felt my wolf spirit whimper. Obviously he didn't like thinking about it either.

" It's nice being able to talk to someone who is a human. Wolves just don't understand." I said. " Maybe we should talk more often."

I looked at her as her eyes widened and she started blushing. I silently laughed at how nervous she was, I felt happiness take over the sadness I was feeling.

" Oh... uh, yeah... Sure, I guess." She stammered, refusing to meet my gaze.

I stood up and walked off. " See you soon then." I said to her over my shoulder. I was out of sight before she could answer.

I couldn't help but think of her.

Autumn

" See you soon then." He said to me as he walked off. I watched him disappear, wishing he didn't go.

Our conversations are to short why does he have to run off like that?

I sighed and stood up. I brushed off the dirt, wishing I never had to go home.

Home.

Damn it, if I don't get home soon, they are going to find out I'm not there! If they haven't already.

I rushed home, sticking to the shadows and alleyways. Soon I reached my house, and I looked up at my room nervously.

The window is still open. Good.

I quickly climbed up, and I heard my mother start calling my name. My heart quickens, and I desperately try to get into my room faster. I finally manage to get in, and I can hear her footsteps coming up the stairs. I shut the window, brush off the dirt, kick off my shoes and climb into bed, taking out my phone and headphones and turning on music quickly.

I pretend to be jamming out to some tunes when my mom comes bursting in, fuming. When she looks at me, her angry look is replaced by an annoyed one.

I take out on ear bud and look at her as innocently as I can.

" Did you call my name?" I ask, trying not to make it obvious.

" Yes, I thought you had snuck out of your room since you weren't going downstairs. I was wrong. But honey, please turn down your music so you can hear us so we don't have to come up here every time we need you to do something." She said, exasperated.

" Yeah, sure mom. What do you need?"

" Your father and I are going to the store and we need you to take out the trash and vacuum." My mom states, and walks out the door before I can say anything.

" Sure mom. Anything for you mom." I snarl under my breath.

A few minutes later I hear the car start and drive off. Reluctantly I get out of bed and go downstairs and quickly do what she asked me to do.

I take a minute to sigh in relief.

She didn't know I was gone. It's my lucky day.

That night we ate lasagna for dinner, my favorite food ever, and since I was grounded I had to clean up the dishes and table.

My parents asked me if I wanted to stay and watch a movie with them, but I refused, saying I wanted time to myself. Well, even more time to myself.

I went to my room and opened the window, feeling the cool night breeze waft through my window. I waited for the wolves to howl, howls that I became accustomed to hearing every night.

Soon they were there, sending shivers down my spine. Suddenly I had the urge to howl with them.

I laid down on my bed and drifted to sleep, the wolves howling still ringing in my ears.
