My heart dropped into my stomach when I heard his deep, husky voice.

" What's up cutie?" Carly says, batting her eyelids.

I scowl at her before looking back at the guy. He glances at her before looking at me. Then back at her. Then at me. I feel myself blushing under his scrutinizing gaze.

Are you just going to stare at us? Your voice is-

Woah, stop right there. Don't think about it, don't think about it.

I am trying to convince myself to not be attracted to him when he speaks.

" So, one of my friends over there, wanted me to ask you if you would go on a date with him." He said, glaring at the group of guys. He looked at Carly. " So. What's it going to be?"

I knew it. I knew he wasn't here to talk to us. Seems kind of cowardly of them though. Stupid boys.

" Now, what about you?" Carly asked, looking at the group. I saw them start fighting over who she looked at. I felt upset. I knew no one would go for me. I don't have that much special about me. Brown hair with blonde highlights that reached the small of my back. Hazel eyes. Small nose, freckles. Nothing special. Normal. And then there is Carly. Beautiful naturally blonde hair that fell to her butt. She had blue eyes, a bright smile, dimples, and had curves in all the right places. Sure I had curves, but nothing compared to Carly. I was still amazed at how she remained single. Maybe she wanted to be single?

" I'm not looking for anyone." The guy replied and glanced at me. " Yet."

Chills ran down my spine and I felt my heart skip a beat. I felt myself blush and looked away, back at the ocean.

" Well, before I give you my answer, what's your name?" Carly asked. I glanced at her and she was smiling.

How can she talk to guys so smoothly? It's like a gift.

" Mine? It's Danny. Danny Frost. So, what'll it be?" Danny replied, almost impatient.

I watched Carly as she considered it. She looked at me and raised her eyebrows, a hint of a smile on her face.

" My name is Carly. That's Autumn. And my answer..." She paused and glanced the boys once again. " is yes."

" Well, then I will be off. Sorry to bother you two." He glanced at me again, eyes twinkling, before he walked away towards the guys.

I looked at Carly quizzically.

" What? I actually want a guy now, so? Single me is out the door!" Carly said, smiling and giggling.

I heard the whoops and shouts from the group of guys. I turned around to look at them high fiving. I realized Danny wasn't with the group, and looked down the dock to see if he was there, and sure enough, there he was, walking away with that walk I like. His hands were in his pockets, and he looked as if he was whistling.

I stared at him for a minute, watching until he walked out of sight.

I looked at Carly who was giving me a look. Immediately I felt my face burning. " Giiiirrrlll, you sooo like him!"

" No I don't!" I said defensively and just a little to quickly.

" Whatever you say." Carly replied, her eyes looking at me knowingly.
