Sighing, I closed the awful book and put it in my bag. It was finally over. The horrid mess of cheesy cliques and painful dialogue that made one want to vomit in disgust was gone. It was over.
And now I had nothing to read. Life is boring. Looking around the classroom, I focused on the door. We were waiting for All Might to arrive but he was being slower than the pacing of that book.
“Am I coming through the door like a normal person!” When All Might finally made an appearance, it was loud, obnoxious and scared Oshken who was hiding from the sparkles of light, trying to flee the classroom but finding himself cornered under Kaminari’s desk.
“Hey? You okay?” Kaminari swiftly threw his blazer around the front of the desk, watching Oshken reform. “You're one of Midoriya’s right? Are you alright?”
“Yes… Thank you.”
“No problem!” Kaminari booped Oshken’s nose, making the shadow look at it in confusion.
I might have gotten distracted watching them and didn’t hear what All Might ordered us to do but everyone was getting these boxes out of the wall so I suppose I should as well.
“Hey, Tokoyami? What are we doing, I zoned out a bit.” I pulled Tokoyami down to my height so I could whisper in his ear.
“You didn’t listen?”
“A ghost distracted me. So…? What are we doing?”
“Battle training. All Might wants us to suit up and meet him in the fake city.”
“Oh! Cool! Thank you Tokoyami!” Hopping off, I brought my box to the side. Inside was exactly what I needed. The outfit was simple in design, a black tracksuit with a hoodie that had black rabbit-like ears. I had a black mouthguard with a flirtation system at the side that I could press a button to make it cover my full face. There were enough pockets to hide the various devices the ants gave me and my black fingerless gloves had special features to make it easier to return the book characters.
“Wow, Tokoyami! You look so cool!” I jumped up to Tokoyami who was dressed in black with a black cape thrown around his shoulders. Dark Shadow was playing with tiny, teasing the little cat with Oshken hid under his cloak- I’ll need to figure out a way to transport Oshken.
"You look good too Midoriya. Is it based off another monster?"
"Yep! Originally, we were going to base it off this one monster known as the Ring Master but that... that brought back bad memories and Tiny tore the ideas to shreds. Then we thought about Ganio and now we have this!" I held up my hands proudly as Tokoyami slowly forced me to lower them.
"Why does the Ring Master bring back bad memories?" Jiro popped up from behind us, curiosity winning her over.
I shuddered at the thought of what happened, gently rubbing the scar that still sat on my arm. "We don't talk about it. Your costume is so cool Jiro!"
Jiro and Tokoyami seemed to share and conversation with their eyes before sighing and agreeing to ignore it for now. "Thanks, your's is very good too. But can I ask why you are both being so... gothic?"
"It's not gothic! It's about not being seen by the villains. If you want a proper name, it is closer to Ninja than goth."
"Goth."
I pouted at Jiro as Tiny scratched at her legs making me giggle. I carefully picked up Tiny, brushing through her fur.
"Why can't you just bring her out when you need to like what you do with Charlie?"
"Charlie and Tiny are different. Tiny reached the limit while we take extra care to make sure she doesn't reach the limit."
"The limit," Tokoyami quested but I couldn't answer him before All Might called us over.
All Might told us that we were doing mock battles with one pair being the villains and guarding the weapon and the other pair being the heroes and trying to take back or capture the villains. How fitting it was to have the two wearing all black play the villains first.
I sighed as I looked out the window, this is going to be a long day. The ants were working on welding the door in place while Tiny and Charlie broke the lightbulbs and covered the windows. Oshken and Dark Shadow where whispering plans as I thought over the possible outcomes. Jumping up, I grabbed Tokoyami and brought him to the weapon.
"Ready?"
He nodded as I reached out with my ink, forming an old friend to give us a hand.
Bakugo walked through the lower levels, ignoring Iida who was insisting on them staying together. "Just stay out of my fucking way! Deku is mine! I'll get payback for what he did to me!" Bakugo's eye's clouded with darkness, pure murder filling the red orbs. Sadly, this was not a strange occurrence.
"What did he do to you?" Iida struggled to keep up with Bakugo but was determined to do so.
Baugo froze for a second. "What did his pets do to me you mean? They made my life hell. All of them." Bakugo could remember Tiny randomly turning him to fabric. Bakugo could remember the ants dismantling everything he ever owned leaving him to face the consequences. Bakugo could remember Oshken imitating his voice and making his shadow to frame him for stuff he didn't do. Bakugo remembered all of it; The isolation and hate; All because of Deku. "I will make Deku pay for what he did to me." Bakugo pushed aside Iida, subconsciously rubbing the scar that was just covered by his glove.
Normally, a shadowy corridor wouldn't be a thing to fear. But when both the people you are fighting have Quirks that thrive in shadows, it is the worst place to be. Bakugo held out his hand to stop Iida, taking out a piece of wood he has collected from outside. "Don't let it go out." Bakugo set the makeshift torch alight before walking into the corridor.
And so, it begins.
