Swinging my legs back and forth, I smiled at the book in my hands. Tokoyami was right, this book is amazing! It wasn't the true horror story that I usually read but it was a good thriller and the characters were unique and went against stereotypes.
"Come honey, you need to get going," mum said, pulling the book out of my hands.
"But, mum, that's a good bit!"
Mum laughed at me, ruffling my hair. She put the book in my bag as she kicked Tiny off the table. "I know sweetie, but you need to go."
I let out a small huff before picking up Tiny. "Dic, Dom! Where are you?!" Oshken jumped into my bag as Dom climbed up my leg. "Hey, Dom, where's the mad genius?"
"He said he was doing something and would catch us up once he is done," Dom explained, making me hum.
"If he says so." Throwing on my shoes, I headed out once more. I had to resist reading while I walked but the second I got on the train, my book was out again. My eyes flicked up temporarily as Bakugo got on the train. Our eyes met for a second before he stormed off. I probably should talk to him at some point. If we are going to be heroes we should learn to work together. Ha, like that will ever happen.
"Morning Tokoyami." I hopped up to my seat, smiling excitedly at the bird boy. "This book is amazing! Thank you so much for the recommendation!" I kicked out my leg excitedly, flicking through the pages to the old bookmark.
"I'm glad you are enjoying it," Tokoyami said with a cough, scratching the back on his neck."What part are you up to?"
"Timmy has just entered the volcano."
"Woah, seriously? You've almost finished."
I spun the book around to show Tokoyami but I spun it back around before he could actually read any of the pages. "Yeah. I can't wait for the trial to start! I wonder if they will beat the Yukchi."
Tokoyami let out a small sigh as he rested his head against his hand, listening to me rant about everything I've read so far. He occasionally added his own point and theory, making my eyes sparkle. I should ask for recommendations more often!
I sang under my breath as my eyes read along the lines. Tokoyami sat beside me as the class left for the USJ. Sometimes he would look over to see which part I was reading but he mainly stuck to his phone.
"Hey, Izu, isn't your favourite writer Saijoni Shoda?"
"Yes! Both Tiny and I love his writing! He did write the book Tiny came from after all." I scratched under Tiny's ear, making her purr. "He makes great horror stories and always thinks of unique ideas while echoing the horror stories of the past. Why do you ask?"
"He's doing a book signing."
"Woah! Really?! I have to meet him! You'll come too right? Those queues take forever, it'll be so much better if I have a friend with me!" I grabbed Tokoyami's arm, looking up at him with my best puppy dog eyes. "Please."
"Sure."
I let out a happy squeal, cheering with my arms in the air and missing the blush now peaking through Tokoyami's feathers.
Tiny jumped out of my arms as she walked into the USJ. The place was massive. There were these massive structures with different natural disasters displayed. I couldn't wait for this to get started!
Thirteen walked out, they were talking to Aizawa but I couldn't care. Let the teachers talk. Let the students explore. I watched Tiny run about the ground. Dom was laughing, talking about different ways to get about and 'save' the targets.
Thirteen called our attention to them, holding up their fingers. "Before we do, I have one or two points. Or three... four... As I'm sure many of you are aware, my quirk is called Blackhole. It can suck in and tear apart anything."
The class leaned in, listening intently to what the pro hero said. Tiny returned to my side, letting me pick her up and keep her away from the open space.
"However my power could easily kill. I've no doubt there are some among you with similar abilities. In our superpowered society, the use of quirks is heavily restricted and monitored. It may seem that this is a stable one. But we must never forget that it only takes one wrong move with an uncontrollable quirk for people to die. During Aizawa's physical fitness test, you came to learn of your own hidden potential. Through All Might's battle training, you experienced the danger that your respective quirks can pose to others. This class will show you a new perspective! You will learn how to utilize your quirks to save lives. your powers are not meant to inflict harm. I hope you leave here today with the understanding that you're meant to help people. That is all! I thank you for listening." Thirteen bowed to us, the class clapping excitedly. Thirteen was so cool!
Tiny didn't seem to share the class and my views as she squirmed. I raised my eyebrow as I dropped her. Tiny started to hiss at the centre space, her tail was stuck straight up and her fur was standing on end. "What's wrong girl?" I tried to pet her to calm her down but she scratched back. Yelping, I fell over as Tiny ran off. "What's her problem?"
Looking back at the space, I noticed something was off. What was that? It looked like a purple mist of some kind and forms were coming out of it. Weird.
"Um, Aizawa-sensei, is that normal?" I leaned back, meeting Aizawa's eyes for a brief second before he was running past me.
"Thirteen get the students out of here," he ordered, his scarf going haywire as he kicked the first villain.
Thirteen was motioning us away as the purple mist surrounded us. Suddenly, I was falling.
"Charlie!" My blood reached out as I stopped a bare centimetre away from the water.
"You called."
